Another option, with a caveat:
Be extremely careful getting anything through eBay. The vast majority of sellers of Honda parts are selling counterfeits. That being said, some Honda dealers also sell on eBay and they can generally be trusted.
This is College Hills Honda's eBay page...
Post some pictures if you can.
Even if they're NOS, it's still helpful to have examples of what things used to look like because the counterfeiters are often mimicking one or two generations behind.
To my haters reporting my posts: I'm sure your parents are very proud!
The PLM-A02 is made in the US for Honda by Fram, the RTA-003 is made in Japan for Honda by Mahle. The sticker difference is correct and one of the things some counterfeits get wrong is putting the sticker on the shrink...
The main thing that makes those look legit (besides coming from a Honda dealership) is that the lot number or date code (the number after "JD") actually changes.
On the counterfeits, they're too lazy to change it. So for example, you see a ton of counterfeits with date code "9M31".
I want to revisit these one more time.
While that box doesn't look like any of the boxes I've seen on legit filters imported from Japan by third parties, I think this might apply:
It may be that this label is what you see on a Honda USA import rather than a third party (gray market) import...
That weirds me out.
I found another photo of that box where it says "Repacked by Factory Motor Parts, Eagan MN, 55121"
That's enough for me to not buy those specifically. If fakes were not so prevalent, it would be a different story but imagine you're the guy in charge of this stuff at...
Walmart the brick and mortar store or Walmart the website?
Walmart the website is just another marketplace where scammers run amok, no better than scAmazon or eBay.
I wouldn't trust anything I didn't buy from a brick and mortar Walmart.
They are not the best or the worst.
You can guarantee you’ll get the worst with a counterfeit though. Even the cheapest filter you’ll get at Napa/Autozone/O’Reillys/etc will at least have a functional bypass valve inside. Some of these counterfeits do not.
Given that the online market is...
This looks more or less identical to the one that @HorizonsEdge posted. His came from Amazon as well.
I'm not sure that it's counterfeit, but they seem a little sus.
Things that make me think they could be legit:
The "JD" in the label probably stands for "Julian Date" and seems to be in the...
MY GUY.
I have gone over ad nauseum all of the reasons why the filter in OP's post is 100% counterfeit.
You just can't read.
It's not, so there's no reason to continue making a fool of yourself.
It doesn't even have a correct barcode on the damn label:
