I washed my car today and when drying the engine bay took a better look at my PRL HVI. I have a hard time believing the half inch shorter filter would fit out the front opening. I think it will still need to come out the side access panel.
Thanks for all the info and the extra math! Seems like a 17% reduction in flow area which might matter but I doubt it on a boosted application. I think I might pick up the dry flow filter just to reduce the amount of maintenance. I've heard oiled filters can also damage/throw off the MAP sensor...
Nice! Thanks for sharing.
Does the filter webbing look to be about the same depth? How about the number of pleats? That half inch might not seem like that much but it could add up to a decent amount of surface area reduction.
This is pretty cool. I wonder which parts will be available for purchase by themselves. Would love to swap out to black knobs on the dash!
Albo isn't some random guy. He's pretty well known and sometimes has the inside scoop on this stuff especially in Japan.
The OP lives in the PNW - same area as me. We get about 1-2 weeks of snow per year and lots of rain. They are totally suitable for driving in the winter up here. I don't think he was looking for actual snow tires.
I'm running Continental DWS06+ 265/30/19 on Integra Type S wheels for the winter. They were awesome in the WA rain last year and have been great so far this year. On the occasional cold/dry day I've been impressed with their grip for an all season.
While it might be tempting to go narrower and...
This is just my theory which is as good as anyone else's. If 2027 is a new generation of Civic then I expect it will be a gap year for the Type R like it has been the last two generations. These decisions are probably being made right now and could be impacted by global politics. It's been...
It's a really good car with minimal areas to improve without a large cost increase. The fact that it's still commanding ADM in many markets 2+ years after launch is a testament to that. You can't say the same for the GRC or really any other cars released in the same time period.
I personally...
2026 would be a 4 year run for the FL5. Which is already the fifth MY of the 11th gen Civic. The 10th gen Civic lasted from 2016-2021 which was a 6 year run. I know a pandemic happened that might have changed things a bit but probably not. The 11th gen is more of an iteration of the 10th gen...
If someone backorders the VS-5RS during the sale do you hold the funds for the 90+ day waiting period or is there an option for a deposit to lock in the special pricing?
I was thinking about this today. I think there is a very good chance there will be no changes to the Type R for 2026 with the exception of a Limited Edition version in Phoenix Yellow and with some extra wheels/accessories.
It doesn't really make sense for a manufacturer to do a facelift for one...
I've done a bit of research on the FK8 forums but can't seem to find a solid answer. Are there any aftermarket dipsticks that are easier to read than the OEM orange tip that is stock on the FL5?
I finally did my own oil change this last weekend. The fact that I can barely see the new oil on the...
Are you sure that your oil catch pan was totally clean? I've noticed a lot of dirt/dust kicks around in my garage because the furnace is in there. Unless it was a brand new pan I wouldn't worry too much about it. 🤷‍♂️
I got this today as well. I noticed it mentioned Navigation updates which could address the crazy ram usage which caused so many of us to disable it?
I haven't updated yet but plan on doing so tonight since it required WiFi. I'll report back what I notice as well!
Is your windshield super dirty or fogged up? The cameras need a clear view and if they are obstructed it will do this. Once the fog goes away the warning should go away quickly (like 1-2 min of driving).
Thank you!
I think this is something that Honda should fix under warranty though or with a TSB. I suspect they will change the material for that part if it's truly due to the plastics rubbing against each other. This applies to ALL Civics so I bet it's something that a lot of people complain about.
