I'll turn 57 this summer before moving back to the US and buying the Type R.
I've owned a '94 Civic EX 5 mT, '97 GSR sedan, 2017 Sport hatch 6mT and 2020 Si. This will be my 5th Honda. Can't wait to get back into a manual after the automatic Focus.
My wife has owned an S2000 and NSX, but they...
I spent a month driving an Accord hybrid, did not like it at all. Agree not hearing the engine on startup and when you start driving makes it feel like an appliance. My two 10th gen Civics were vastly more fun and involving to drive.
So if we don't get a Type R next summer I'll look for a used...
I see a lot of Focus wagons here in Taiwan, mostly the 1.5T rather than STs but they look very similar. We paid $28k for our 2023 Focus ST-Line, and the ST was $48k, which is kind of crazy, but that includes Taiwan's 30% import tax (our ST-Line is built in Taiwan so avoids the tax).
We're...
Love the 1st gen IS300, the 2001 is the one I drove at the Lexus Driving Experience, where Lexus let you drive an IS300, 323i, A4, Volvo S40 on a mini autoX. Everyone there agreed the IS was the most fun.
I ultimately bought a 2004 330i ZHP instead though cause the IS was a little small for me...
I loved the shifter in my 2004 330i ZHP, if it's the same shift feel I'd be cool with that. I didn't find my 2020 Si's shifter superior, just different. BMW shifters don't like to be rushed.
Doesnāt the. Canadian Si get rear heated seats?
Honda is so cheap with stuff. Our 2023 Focus was $29k, it has:
185 hp 1.5L turbo from the Fiesta ST.
B&O stereo
Heads up display
Felt lined door pockets
Folding mirrors
Power drivers seat
Front and rear cameras (came with car)
Rear AC vents and...
This happens in several cars I've owned after sitting for a long time (like a month), I figure its engine oil starvation. My Focus never did it until I didn't drive it for 6 weeks this summer. Then it did it the first startup. My BMWs used to do it to a scary degree.
With the Civics using such...
We're not talking about hybrids, but mild hybrids. The 2024 GLB didn't gain any weight, as far as I can tell. Typically a mild hybrid system is 20-30 lbs.
The other car we're planning to buy, the Mercedes GLB 250, just got a mild hybrid update for 2024, it replaces the alternator and adds 13 hp burst. I haven't driven it but haven't heard any reviews mention it changes the feel of the car, other than a 1 mpg boost.
I think this is what Honda will...
I don't think Japan stopping orders means anything - you can't even order a Type R in the US. It just means its very popular in Japan.
This regulation is introduced in 2026 or mandatory in 2026? Not sure why MY2027 has any bearing though.
The 1.5T is now only available on the Si. Sure I'd buy an Si but I meant I'd take a 1.5T Sport hatch over the hybrid (if the hybrid drives like the Accord).
I was open to hybrids but after just spending two months driving them, weāre buying two non-hybrid cars next year.
Plan is to buy a new Type R and a 1-2 year old Mercedes GLB 250.
We were home in Boston for two months and had an Accord hybrid and Dodge Hornet PHEV rentals all summer. I didnāt like the Accord, mainly cause it feels huge and zero fun, but also the hybrid makes it feel unnatural and disjointed.
Both cars got unimpressive sub EPA gas mileage.
I think Iād...
