If you're just dailying the car I'd be wary of the suspension mods because some R owners are already complaining about the OEM ride quality. We don't know what your tolerance level is for NVH but for every suspension bit you replace, that's another potential to add NVH. I reckon you'd be able to...
Not to get technical but you don't necessarily *have to* remove the ECU, that's just the easiest and quickest way to access the filter for service. The alternative is to remove the entire filter box from the hose side but that's a lot more trouble, in my opinion.
To answer your question...
Bro, are you me?
Trying to figure out new method to heat up the garage space also (currently running a propane heater). Your mod path is basically what I did/have planned. Steering recall letter received this week but I'll likely bring it in in the spring once I mount the summers and new...
Figured I'd update the gang since my AEM dry filters came in. In short, it ain't happenin'. The filter base is way too big to fit into the front opening no matter which way I tried to orient it, the only way to service the filter is through the access panel (and removing the ECU in the process)...
Just wanted to chime in that my man Jester has been superb to work with!
Currently just running a base map and it's already 90% of what I'm looking for out of a tune!
Funny you mention that because I had the exact opposite experience with my M2C lol. Those headlights were absolutely superb because of the adaptive function and made even better after VLD coding. I rarely had to use the high beams on the BMW.
One of my biggest gripes with the DE5 as well. The cutoff is way too abrupt and our eyes simply cannot adjust to that difference in luminosity. At a minimum, a squirrel-finder feature would have been great. We just have poorly designed lights in my opinion.
On the subject of the BMWs (including the G87), I think we're all in agreement that they're a far cry from the Hondas. Just "ok" at best.
Since we were talking P cars, I owned a 996 Cab for a brief period of time and that was a stellar car when it ran. For a forgotten and tired 20 year old (at...
Putting aside things like the exhaust and (lack of) adaptive suspension, the F87C is the less sharp of the two. Inputs are more direct and engaging on the Type R/S. Where the M2C shines is that it's a brute. You give up some sharpness on inputs but it makes up for that with a wall of power and a...
I should have prefaced my post with "the only reason the DE5 feels lacking in any way is really because of my experience with the improvements on my F87C." Otherwise it's really just as you say; "You don't know what you don't know." For our platform, I feel the slave cylinder mod and CMC bypass...
Have owned an F87C from new for 3 years and 19k miles before having to switch off to my current DE5. Stock vs stock the inputs are much better on the DE5. Shifter feel is significantly improved along with a more linear clutch pedal engagement. However, the DE5 shifter is a bit light for my...
