No Ospho is a water based solution and will not damage paint.

Apply Ospho to the surface rust. It converts iron oxide to iron phosphate. You simply apply and let it work its magic. Converted rust changes to a black color.

Not to worry...Looks like remanence of grease used to simply push the bushing into the part during the assembly process. Similar to when you see grease on rims when tires are installed. There is no grease fitting on the OEM or aftermarket RMM.
