It didn't seem bad at all but with the limited running it wasn't a good test - I had very few laps at speed. I will say I didn't feel like I was giving up anything (which is a bit hard to discern given it was a different track), and it seemed easier to put power down, so I don't see a need to...
That's awesome! It's great to see you are still out there!
If you have had the car out on track before and were ok with the brakes you might be alright, but I would still recommend some upgraded pads (a lot of us run Paragon R5s), and upgraded DOT 4 fluid (RL600, Castrol SRF, etc, plenty of...
A lot of us in here are going to be running more of the "Super" 200tw tires, ie, Bridgestone RE-71RS, Nankang CRS V2, etc, which aren't awful for wear and deliver great performance, but may not be quite what you want, but you really can't go too far wrong with any of the current 200tw offerings...
Thanks! I think a lot of people didn't get representative times due to a variety of issues, so I'm not sure if I had it worse or better than others, but we'll keep working at it!
No way I was catching Luka or Josh though, I don't think that time was there. I did find out I was only about 5mph...
I paired those two together with this so that I could use both arms, as the included double-ball isn't the same size on both ends and didn't work to connect the two sets of arms - with this the height was great, just didn't stay put (and wobbled a bit too much for my liking).

Ya, I picked it up after watching your video. It's definitely a slick concept, and the positioning is good, but even after it fell I really tried to clamp down on it and it still seemed like it would wobble out after testing it a bit more, and I didn't want to chance it again and lose more...
Here you go 😂 since you asked... lol. You can see about the first 35s of the lap at the end of this video, and as you can see from the start of the lap, there was *a lot* of time still out there by not being held up in T12 and T1 alone.
In my ongoing quest for a better camera position I tried a mount that fits into the rear cup holder. It seemed secure enough at first but all the curbing/cornering caused a lot of side loading that wobbled it out of the cup holder 7min in, just in time to miss my "fast" lap.
After it happened...
For interested parties...
So, it was kind of a mess - session 1 yesterday had 3 cars off on lap 1 that stayed there for the rest of the session - aka, 3 local yellows in different areas (mostly mechanicals) - total mess. However, this wasn't my only issue - we tried e30 for this event...
I was at -3.8° with plates so I still had a lot of negative camber, and more power than last year, so it makes sense that wear was accelerated. We'll see how it goes this weekend as I get stomped by 10+ AWD cars 😂 😂 😂.
It's never been adjusted, just verified with my gauge / toe plates, so it's still at the factory setting, just lower - I didn't want to pay for a formal alignment until I stopped messing around with the suspension. But, it's about -2° camber with 1/16" total toe-in (I'll run somewhere between 0...
Was this with rotation? Are you making a lot of power? With rotation last year and the lower camber (~-2.5° front) I actually got pretty even wear on all 4, with basically full use of the tread (as you can see in my picture).
When I first started I would write down the course in a small notepad and highlight a few key cones (critical apex cones, slaloms, etc) - there's usually only 10-15 cones of consequence on the course, the rest you just drive through/around. Once I did several events I really didn't need the...
It's possible, I don't know enough about the changes of toe with load on this platform, although I don't know that it would be much different than last year? I ran the same tire setup, just with different springs and dampers (and with my rates I should be better-controlled vs. last year). I do...
Going back to alignment, I dialed the front back to around -2.8° for negative camber.
After I did that I thought I'd take a picture of last year vs. this year, and as you can see from the labels this isn't a perfect comparison, but the previous set (same size, same wheel width, same offset)...
The attendance size is a bit on the larger side but not atypical. Locals usually are 80-100+, national tour events are 200-300, and the national championships in Lincoln are 1200-1400.
Autocross is definitely a different experience - it's far more methodical and technical than track stuff -...
I didn't get my FL5 until mid-summer last year, and didn't have it on track until the fall, so I don't think it's been on-track above 80-85°F yet. Since I'm in Nashville it definitely gets hotter than that, as we will touch close to 100°F in the summer with moderate-to-high humidity, so I very...
