Someone else from VB! I was thinking of getting a local FL5 group going in the HR area, but it's hard when there are only a few. What color are you getting?
So far, I'm 50/50 on it. In an autocross environment, I can see the benefit in some regards. There have been at least a dozen times where I would have liked some more rotation but there are a lot of areas where I wouldn't want any further rotation (I came from a tail happy Mustang). On track...
It was nice seeing another FL5 out there for once! I haven't see the results yet, but did you manage to hold on to FTP?
EDIT: Just saw the title of the video. Answered that question!
Great write-up! If I wasn't able to get my hands on an FL5, one of my backup plans was an Elantra N. It's definitely a bargain for fun/performance and I'm glad it exists (the more fun cars for sale, the better). It's nice to hear about honest ownership experiences as other's can deduct what...
@TypeRD it does flash when you do. I vividly remember as both times it happened was when I was around a LOT of people watching me leave. I'm sure there is video of me doing that somewhere lol....
The car will shut off if left idle for around 20 minutes or so. It happened to me twice at hot events where my wife and I were cooling off. It's normal.
As far as turning off immediately after starting it, is it possible you let off the clutch a skosh too soon? I've done that a couple times.
The fuel capacity is one of the few areas where the FL5 shows it's economy car roots. I'm averaging 24-25 for my work commute (mostly open city driving) and I'm filling up at the same rate as my previous Mustang GT. However, It's rare I fill up at 10 gallons, usually 9.XX, so it's still less...
I asked in the other thread before seeing this, but what was the process to overlay the data on your video? I keep getting the error, "Failed to synchronize selected video. Please check the storage." I certainly missed something, but I'm not sure what.
I was referring to the braking feeling different after putting the TC/VSC in maintenance mode, not necessarily looking at how the VSC effects the brakes. I was curious if that mode did more than just disable TC/VSC and if any data would show differences in how I was braking. I think it's just...
The pedal felt different, almost as if it didn't quite have ABS. It's not conclusive as there were other variables at play. I did my first run in +R mode and it was way too bumpy for this particular venue (the first time I've encountered that, but this was a different venue than the other 3...
Put your foot on the brake and hold
Turn off traction control (hold for a second until it beeps for future reference)
Turn on traction control
Pull up on the e-brake
Take your foot off the brake
Turn off traction control
Turn on traction control
Put your foot on the brake and hold
Turn off...
The pedal dance will allow you to turn off traction and VSA outside of +R mode. I have noticed that braking feels different in an autocross between holding the traction-off button for 10 seconds in +R and doing the pedal dance while using Individual. Not sure if there was a difference.
Related note to all of this. If the suspension blocks were missed, there is a good chance your tires are still inflated at 54 PSI for shipping purposes (mine were, but I forgot to post about that back in December).
A few friends were also hitting a lot of cones out there lol. What mode have you been running in: +R or Individual with the pedal dance?
Recently, I've been flipping back and forth between this fitting in BS and DS.
Congrats on the FL5 and welcome to the forum! $4K over MSRP is better than a lot of people, so you are still ahead.
My only question for you: WHERE ARE THE PICS!? 📸
There was another post from them about the reverse rake that the FK8 springs caused on the FL5. I believe it was in one of the FB groups, so it's probably buried now. I'm waiting for their official release (any maybe a couple others) before making a choice for myself.
I don't get scuffs there (especially that place), but I grew up getting out of lots of low-slung cars and plenty of roll bars, so it's habit with my legs now lol. I was more "let down" that it wasn't me who caused it and that it happened while trying to get the car repaired. I can't blame the...
