I am going to stick with them. I knew going into it that a catted version may be later out the door. If it is a lot longer, a deeper discount on the full CAI may keep me praising them.
I am also cool about waiting a bit, but more so for thorough install guides/instructions; especially, for those of us without a lift that are slumming it with jack stands
Will the decreased restriction have a negative impact on fuel economy? Obviously, if I indulge in lead footedness a lot, I know it will. But, I am not sure what to expect for tame daily driving. Maybe a slight increase from more available power from the fuel being burned?
Can any tuners or gearheads think of negatives to running the catted do and front pipe without a tune? Does the ECU keep everything in check? Also, how long until initial gains are compensated for and nullified to some degree by the ECU?
Anyone using this? I used a K&N on my previous car and enjoyed not having to replace dirty filters every so often. I head that reusable filters like this let more dirt into the engine.
good call. The manual says something about readiness codes and the need to do extensive driving or follow their protocol to get readiness codes up- probably to cover what you mentioned.
I have windows phone, but managed to get a few apps that work with an elm27 module. I haven't used it much...
if anyone finds a way to keep the catted version from throwing codes... Please start a new thread!
it'd be nice not having to swap back to stock for emissions inspection.
Dang. If the stock downpipe is swapped in before a check, there shouldn't be any codes that would cause a problem, right?
Anyone know if running a ktuner tune with the code(s) disabled and the one readiness not ready would pass state inspection in PA? I don't live there now, but will be soon.
Could @VitViper or someone else drop some knowledge on us about:
What does the CEL disabling from ktuner do? Is it potentially bad that it may wholly disable the system, and keep from indications of actual problems? If I go through inspection and all they do is OBDII check with ktuner disabling...
if CELs are turned off with a flash tuner, is that action selective to this sort of case, or is it a blanket action that would suppress indications of other system failures? Also, do the tuners just deactivate the light? That is, does obdii still throw codes?
That's an not entirely known. What is, however, is the money saved on this downpipe combo if we get to 20 pre-orders can always go toward a refurbished or new CVT if the answer is not what we would all like to hear!
That's right. I was reassured that my deposit was contingent on (whether it is V2, V3, or ....) receiving a no-CEL catted combo. Anyone who has a concern about this; don't. Another 7 pre-orders, and we get another 5% off. Jump on in- the water is fine!
Meh. I would rather run with a CAT that meets emissions. There is always the chance that an inspector in my state might resort to or do a secondary test with a tailpipe probe. Plus... you know... the trees + whales + such.
