I agree with you. The tag line I've heard from Honda Japan is that they felt like 10th gen owners have matured and they wanted the new gen Civic to match that idea. And while I'm sure some 10th gen owners love the more subdued look, it's lost it's identity a bit.
When I saw the 10th gen...
To be fair, that's the base model Elantra. I actual think it's not bad in N line form. Just different. One of those cars I guarantee looks better in person.
I know this will be a nice car but it is really starting to go away from it's roots. Like you said, it's pretty much an Accord Lite.
Who knows, maybe Honda will surprise us with something smaller like a new CRX/CRZ type vehicle. In a way that would make sense in the US. They dropped the Fit and...
They definitely decided to go conservative. I think a lot of that is the fact this was designed by Honda Japan. The 10th gen was designed by Honda's team in California.
Yep. This is a prototype... some elements will be toned down even further on the production model. Remember the 10th gen prototype reveal? While the production model was similar, many things were toned down.
It's interesting. Hyundai just went way out there in funky styling with their new Elantra and Honda took a hard turn to tone the Civic's funkiness down.
I wonder which company made the right move. Maybe both did.
It will sell but doesn't get the juices going like the 10th gen reveal did. It's Honda playing it super safe. I have to say on first glance I felt a bit of a Toyota vibe. I give the looks a meh+...
I'd say front of an Accord with the rear of the last gen Sonata. Not a bad thing but the Civic is losing it's identity as a small car. Not sure why Honda feels they need to enlarge it each generation.
