  1. R&T Article: When Miata Is No Longer the Answer... Civic Type R

Love your write-up, and I’ve lusted after an ND2 Miata since test driving them once, twice, thrice… My plan is to get the Miata if my dealer doesn’t/can’t follow-through on my 2025 Type R allocation. I would probably keep my TSX “beater” in any case, but especially so if I get the Miata, as I...
  2. Official 30th Anniversary Type R posters

Doesn’t seem so. I emailed them about it and they just ignored me with no reply.
  3. FK8 LE or FL5 (Sonic Grey)

Makes perfect sense, I would’ve been laughing at them as I pulled away in the LE, especially if their Sonic Grey isn’t even your first choice for colour. $55k CAD trade in for the LE is insulting, and they know it, but were hoping you’re a sucker who’s enamoured with the FL5.
  4. FK8 LE or FL5 (Sonic Grey)

Wonder if Honda Canada will do an online first come, first served reservation process again for the LE. I’ll be ready.
  5. FK8 LE or FL5 (Sonic Grey)

Do you already have an allocation for an incoming FL5? I’m assuming you do since you mentioned it would be at MSRP. As RickyJeezus said, it would depend on my usage case: As a garage queen/occasional drive to the car show, I would for sure rather keep the FK8 LE. As a daily driver I’m racking...
  6. Official 30th Anniversary Type R posters

Thanks OP, ordered the bundle. Not sure if it’s their glitch, but their site says “now shipping internationally”, but it wouldn’t accept my Canadian address. Guess I’m crossing the border to pick this up at my USA mailbox when it arrives. Also, could’ve sworn it initially said $17 shipping...
  7. 2024 Integra Type S Officially Announced! + First Drive Reviews!

Funner, more boisterous factory exhaust too.
  8. Canadian dealer asked what colour Type R I want

Yup that’s even worse than the markups in the States. At least those ones down there you’re getting a completely new car. This case, you’re getting a bagged-on car with hundreds of KMs on it, with a markup that rivals or beats some of the markups I’ve seen across the border.
  9. Canadian dealer asked what colour Type R I want

The Honda Way in Abbotsford, BC. Coincidentally, there are indeed lots of drug dealers in that region, it seems. I heard this dealer also imports S2000s with questionable histories and sells them for inflated prices. I’m sorta local to them, and I would never step foot in a dealer with known...
  10. Canadian dealer asked what colour Type R I want

As someone else said, call around. I’m not in a hurry, so I just kept my deposit with this dealer that I’m familiar with. Hopefully Acura produces plenty of these.
  11. Canadian dealer asked what colour Type R I want

Yup, salesman said they’ve had a list growing for the Type S ever since the new Integra was first announced.
  12. Canadian dealer asked what colour Type R I want

I put a deposit down a month or two ago, already 30th+ in line with a paid deposit at the time. Vancouver dealer.
  13. 2024 Integra Type S Officially Announced! + First Drive Reviews!

Lucky. I put a deposit down months ago and there were already 30+ paid deposits ahead of me. Hopefully Acura pumps out a lot of these because the low quantities of the Type R in Canada don’t look promising.
  14. Rollout of the FL5 and the Big Tease - Decreasing want for this car?

I really like the Elantra N overall and test drove a DCT one. As you mentioned, it makes really fun noises, has heated seats, and has a sunroof (which I prefer having, on a daily driver). Which transmission did you get, and which colour?
  15. Rollout of the FL5 and the Big Tease - Decreasing want for this car?

I’ve always been a Honda and Type R fanboy, and the FL5 was/is going to be my *car* reward for going back to trades-school as a grown ass adult for my career change. The limited production and (rumoured) short life cycle is really a bummer. Currently 2nd in line at my dealer for a 2025...
  16. Is anyone backpedaling from Type R to an Si?

I have a deposit down for a Type R, as a do-it-all fun manual car that stirs the soul for me. But if it was for a second, weekend car AND I couldn’t get the Type R, I would definitely get a new Miata or GR86 over the Si.
  17. Canadian dealer asked what colour Type R I want

If I’m lucky enough to get my MY-2025 allocation eventually, I’m not turning down any colour, even red (my least desired choice). I would be over-the-moon happy with White, ecstatic with Black or Sonic Grey, but would definitely take Boost Blue or Red too if given no choice.
  18. Thoughts on FL5 vs FK8 Type R (by savagegeese)

The MK8.5 Golf R should be great, interior-wise too. I believe VW has admitted they were wrong with the over-usage of capacitive touch buttons and it will be rectified.
  19. Thoughts on FL5 vs FK8 Type R (by savagegeese)

Considering that (IMO) Volkswagen manual gearboxes are trash, there really is no substitute for a Type R’s combination of top tier gearbox, driving dynamics/performance, and practicality. The Elantra N is a decent choice if you can get past its looks and lack of hatchback practicality. At no...
  20. Thoughts on FL5 vs FK8 Type R (by savagegeese)

It’s not a looker for sure, but in black, I could deal. It’s a great all-around package except in the exterior looks department for $10k less - not a bad fallback option if my FL5 allocation falls through.
