I've driven NA and NBs and felt quite cramped. The NC (which I owned) was much roomier. I've sat in the NDs and they are a throwback to the NB space wise.
I think your local dealer is telling the truth. My dealership told me they only have 5 allocations confirmed for the next 3 years (!). 2 for 2023, 1 for 2024 and 2 for 2025. This is a high volume dealership in the GTA.
