I hear ya. At a certain point you're just subconsciously keeping an eye out for noises and just kills the magic. Some trim can settle over time though so you never know
That piece was my problem too There was a warped clip on mine that was buzzing around since it couldn't fully clip in. Glad you got yours settled. You totally had it much worse than mine was lol
I was surprised when they only did the upper frame for mine a month ago. I never thought the upper frame was the issue to begin with. What they told me was upper frame first was just the warranty protocol...Then lower if it wasnt fixed. It'll be interesting to see exactly what the recall says...
Spoken with several other owners on here or Reddit and the only permanent fix seems to be total frame replacement. One guy had his reinforced somehow and the issue came back. Couple others the connection points greased up, but were only temporary fixes.
In my personal journey with this, I've...
To those with squeaky seat frames.... Honda is likely going to be issuing a recall. I had my car in this past weekend to replace the lower frame, and they had to stop after receiving word that they have to send the part back. Sounds like Honda will be sending a recall letter to all Type R owners...
Sounds exactly like what i've done with my jeep lol. So much felt tape over the years as the plastics got brittle. Have a few more weeks to wait for my frame. Just going to ask for them to excessively grease it up and see if it's possible to add some kind of bracket/plate to stiffen the points...
How dare you come in here with your doom and gloom lol. I agree though, some issues arent worth chasing (some vibration i even like, makes things feel a little more raw), but others are simply unlivable. Honda can keep taking my seat apart and replacing until it's fixed or replace the seat entirely.
Hang in there man. Long road but we'll get our cars fixed...eventually lol. I talked to the guy who had his seat reinforced somehow and unfortunately he didn't ask exactly what they did to it. Was only a few days ago so it may not be a long term fix anyways
Hate to hear that. Spoke with another owner and they somehow beefed up the frame along with the replacement. Trying to get more details on what they did to it
glad that sorted your issue out! My fear is that the passenger seat is going to the dreaded squeak, although that'd be far less annoying and less of an urgency to correct.
Just an update. Had the car at the shop this morning. They've order a new inner frame. Seems like that's the common solution for all of our squeaky seats
Just got out of my appointment at the dealership. Same conclusion. New seat frame has been ordered. That's at least helped my peace of mind knowing a fix is in the works
