Encountered a fun and new rattle today. The passenger side vent on top of the dashboard is giving me a LOT of rattle. I might try to reseat it or jam some foam in it until I get take it to a dealer.
From my understanding (someone correct me here if they have more solid info) because the Type R is only built at one plant all of our VINs are the same pattern until the last 6 digits. I believe even the ones sold in Japan and UK are using JHMFL5G4_PX (I believe the underscore is a check digit...
Didn't we figure out that the badge numbers inside the car aren't really accurate to anything because they're not sequential? I think the VIN is what accurately tells you.
Had a funny moment today in Atlanta. Stopped at a red light I noticed that the house on the street to my left had a Boost Blue Civic parked in the driveway. Except, wait a second, it was a Type R! The first I've seen in town. Not only that, the owner was walking out to their car during this and...
Update us on how the JDM shift boot goes. I've heard people are running into complications because the mount is reversed for right side drive and it makes the process a bit of a headache. I'm debating going with the Overland Designs Alcantara boot for that reason.
Edit: Found a video showing...
Also know your options when it comes to extended warranties! At the dealer I signed up for an 8yr/120k warranty that was $3500 through JM&A. I had 30 days to cancel it (I did) and looked around at other options. I found that Hyannis Honda sells Honda Care online cheaper than anywhere else I've...
Yep it's fine now! I would say the fit still seems a little weird, has the same wiggle room as before, but I just took a heat gun to the plastic and worked out the kinks it got during shipping.
Heads up to any Georgia or Southeast people! Sons Honda has a black Type R coming in. Their last one sold for $5k ADM plus $1145 in accessories. Not sure if they're selling this one for the same price or not, but DM me if you want me to put you in contact with the sales guy.
Edit: Called them...
Did some research and turns out that carbon fiber makes for an effective RF shield. Carbon fiber-look (which I believe is the case with this Carmate cover) should work just fine. Actual CF is gonna hurt your range though.
Confirming as well, every carbon fiber cover I've tried makes it so you have to be less than 5ft or so of the car for the fob to work. I love the look and protection, but it's not worth nerfing the remote that intensely.
Noticed an odd rhythmic click coming from what sounded like the passenger door today. It was very consistent, not sure what it might've been.
My biggest concern is the weird metallic ping I'm hearing from the steering wheel (which I made a thread about). Lots of other people are hearing it...
