  1. First Si maintenance - ripoff?

Ah, good to know - the car is almost 9 months old, I got it at launch, so it’s only slightly too early. When I had my GTI, the dealer never offered/did this kind of service, so I always assumed brakes do not need service, you just swap pads/rotors once they wear out and rust
  2. First Si maintenance - ripoff?

I took my 22 Si for the first maintenance to a local Honda dealer, car is at 12k KM - the minder said A1, which is oil change + tire rotation. I rejected the tire rotation, since I perform this myself. Service centre said that they have to do a yearly brake lubing/cleaning/inspection, which is...
  3. Auto off engine... what did I do ?

Has it been very cold in your area? It's been -20C here, I noticed the same thing, have to drive my SI around for 20 minutes before the car gets warm enough to re-enable start/stop. The start/stop programming is minimally intrusive IMO, I haven't disabled it for the 3K km I've driven so far. It...
  4. Burning Smell

    Could it be the clutch?
  5. Any issues with frequently pulling to red line?

I'm going by the book - Honda's manual says to avoid sudden acceleration or full throttle operation for the first 600 miles/1000km. I did take it very easy for the break-in period though, shifted under 4K. I should probably just enjoy the car and put it out of my mind, if it blows up, it blows...
  6. Any issues with frequently pulling to red line?

I passed the 1000 km break-in period on my new Si, and I started driving the car much harder - I’m really enjoying revving the car out to close to red line when I accelerate. Any reliability concerns driving the car like this? I make sure the car is warmed up first (5 minutes after it hits...
  7. Everyday Driver Reviews 2022 Civic Si

Not sure I agree with them on the transmission being “demanding”. In my opinion it’s very easy to drive and shift smoothly, actually easier than the GTI. Also, on the all seasons in Canada, the ride isn’t harsh.
  8. Si firm ride. No adaptive dampers

The Si's suspension isn't even that firm to my tastes, it feels just right for a sporty car. My point of reference is the Non-DCC MK7.5 GTI, which was too firm and "bouncy", exhausting to drive. The Si feels pretty comfortable in comparison. I think it's set up perfectly as is, it's more than...
  9. ? 2022 Civic Si First Drive Media Reviews & Videos Are Out!

I doubt Doug will even review the Si, he only reviews what he deems are special cars. I think he only reviewed the base 2022 civic due to the popularity of the model.
  10. Selling my 2022 Civic Touring Sonic Grey

OP, I test drove the Civic Touring, and now own an Si, the Si is a much better car IMO. This an MSRP Canadian version, with all the features. I would not pay markup for the US version however, that's insane. I'm not sure you can trade up in this market without paying another 10K, not worth it.
  11. Hondata's 11th gen 2022 Civic Si Dyno Baseline Numbers -- Top end shows a big difference!

What's with the spec inconsistency? Civic Touring - 180HP spec, 165HP at the wheels Civic Si - 200HP spec, 220HP at the wheels Why didn't they follow the same logic and advertise the SI at 240HP? But this is great news, this explains why the car feels so damn good back to back with my GTI. I...
  12. First Video Driving Review & Impressions of 2022 Civic Si - Pulls & Dig!

I own a 2022 Si, it does not feel slow, feels great on the street, good power delivery. My other car is a MK7.5 GTI (220 hp 258 lb-ft torque), I prefer the Si
  13. Picked up 2022 Civic Si Sonic Gray - my review & first impressions!

This is comparing to the Mk 7.5 GTI with stock tires (hankook ventus noble), with no DCC (Canadian version didn’t get one). MK8 is probably way better handling, haven’t driven one. Si handles like it’s on rails, even in the wet, I can’t get the car to lose traction on the street. The GTI would...
  14. Picked up 2022 Civic Si Sonic Gray - my review & first impressions!

After driving this for 4 days (almost 400km now), I think the power figures are fine, it’s really fun on the street, delivers power and accelerates nicely, no rubber-bandy turbo like my GTI. Had fun every time I drove it. I won’t be tuning it, it’s enough for me. My only complaint is the...
  15. Picked up 2022 Civic Si Sonic Gray - my review & first impressions!

I think there’s enough demand already, it’s impossible to even test drive these, everything gets pre-sold
  16. Picked up 2022 Civic Si Sonic Gray - my review & first impressions!

Probably, but you shouldn’t have to, it’s not a cheap car. Needs to be a software toggle IMO
  17. Picked up 2022 Civic Si Sonic Gray - my review & first impressions!

Drove it for another few hours today - overall the car feels fast, it’s fun and engaging to drive. It’s not objectively fast, but feels exciting to row through the gears as you accelerate. I like it a lot, I think the reviews are going to be really good. Also, individual mode seems to have the...
  18. Picked up 2022 Civic Si Sonic Gray - my review & first impressions!

I think it turns it off as well, it's difficult to tell if anything is being piped at all in on Normal, engine is reasonably quiet. I think I drove in the same rain as you, I got it to spin a little in 2nd. My GTI is actually hilarious in the rain, spinning at WOT, cannot put power down and...
  19. Picked up 2022 Civic Si Sonic Gray - my review & first impressions!

I got my car, SGP, basically same car as OP’s, drove it for around 100km. My first impressions are very positive - the highlight for me is that the clutch/shifter are incredibly satisfying to use, and the power delivery feels very linear. I’m also keeping it under 4000-ish RPM for now. At first...
