For my case at least, I have narrowed it down to excessive brake dust causing the squeal. Using brake cleaner and "de-squeak" from CRC fixes the problem for a few days, and then it comes back.
Also don't wash the car when the brakes are still hot. Made that mistake once, and brakes started...
Update 4: Rear rotors started squealing again after a car wash. Guess I should've waited longer for the brakes to cool off before washing the car, but it wasn't as if I was back from a track day or even an enthusiastic driving session..... just on the way back home from the office. Arizona temps...
Just found this thread. I got mine in late Feb 2023, did 24k in 1 year. Currently sitting at ~34k miles. Does anyone in here have more miles? Trying to see if mine is the highest mileage FL5 so far 👀
Update 3: resurfaced rear rotors and changed rear pads. Sound gone. My assumption is that the rears are wearing out much faster than the fronts and causing that noise. Did speak to a couple of owners I met at a show and they confirmed that changing rear pads helped for some time. I guess a...
They resurfaced the front rotors for you?The dealership I took it to the last time told me they can't resurface two piece rotors and I called BS and I guess it was BS after all.
So what's the update? Also why is this an issue on the FL5? Aren't the brakes supposed to be better than everyday car brakes? I wouldn't expect them to be glazed (last time the dealer gave that reason before changing) or warped just because Arizona is hot and it can't handle stop and go...
Maybe it's placebo, but I still think the +R sound was more aggressive on the FL5 module, especially the rev-match downshift noise. I've also heard that running it in comfort doesn't open the center exhaust valve at high rpms anymore? Hopefully that's not the case. Other than that, I do notice...
Just installed the ITS module. One thing I noticed is that the fake sound is much less even in +R mode. I know most of you would count that as a win, but for someone who doesn't want to spend on a proper exhaust (I don't want the constant drone/noise; sometimes I like my car to be quiet, and...
Update 2: 25k miles, and the noise has started once again. No tracking or aggressive driving. Just the daily office run in heavy traffic in AZ. Very disappointed in this aspect of the car; my 2002 CR-V doesn't do this at all!
Thanks for the advice. It's been a year and 1 month since I got my Type R. Paid 2k over which felt like a steal back then. It was difficult to come to terms with paying over sticker though. That's illegal back in India where I'm from. I have since forgotten about the 2k over as the car has been...
I got one by "Drivant" and the only thing I'm worried about is that it isn't the "tire and wheel with cosmetic repair" but the "tire and wheel". I'll probably get a tire but since the rim is holding air I am worried that they might not replace the rim (which was cosmetically damaged because of...
Thanks for the help guys! I made it home! Had to go to a small town 70 miles away but the local tire shop guys were very nice and drove me there for a reasonable amount. Got the only 265/30/19 tire (OEM size) in entire Northern Arizona for the day. It's a Nexen tire so I'm going to use the tire...
Thanks for the advice guys. As of yet I'm still stuck but I believe a Honda Pilot or Acura RL/TLX donut spare should fit it considering that the bolt pattern matches. Just worried about the offset. The local tire shop guy is still looking for any spares he can find which might fit. If not today...
Hey guys, last night my left rear tire got ripped and now I'm stranded in Kayenta, Arizona. Does anyone have any recommendations for any emergency spare tire replacement? I don't have a spare tire but I'm looking to see if any common car's rims fit the Type R so that I can find it faster. As...
