The day was broken up between class room sessions and track sessions. A gradual build up of speed and technique from recon laps, braking, racing line and point by passing, and finally 2 open sessions. The first open session I asked one of the coaches to ride along. That was probably the best in...
I had my very first track day ever this Sunday at Buttonwillow. It was the Beginner Day with SoCal Drivers Club and it was an awesome experience. I was always nervous about driving at the limit/my limit but the org did a great job of slowly teaching and building up the pace. By the end of the...
Yeah, from the videos I've watched about heel toe shifting, it looks like everyone goes hard on the brake which indicates it's a technique for more dedicated driving. I'll leave the auto rev match on to account for any of my mis-blips while trying to just get the hang of rev matching where it's safe
Yeah, one of my justifications was "oh, someday I might own something older without auto rev match and I should learn now for that day." The reality is that that day isn't guaranteed with the way cars are going now lol
My Type R is my first manual car. I've been driving around with the auto rev-match since last November, but I figured I'd start learning to heel toe myself.
I'm starting with just blipping the throttle when down shifting. The throttle feels a good bit further back from where the brake starts...
Yeah a good set of A/S tires on the most affordable set of rims was probably gonna be my go to. For the mountains, highway patrol and parks services requires you to be in possession chains/cables/traction devices for snow at all times anyways so I can get something for those specific situations...
No, the title is not a joke or a shitpost lol
last year SoCal got a ton of rain and winter storms (lot of flooding and certain parts of LA and Riverside county even got light snow). I recently met someone who works in climate science data analysis and they said that it's looking like another...
Just wondering if there were any other FL5 owners based in NorthCounty/SD/IE who are going to the Cal Club autocross coming up in a few weeks?

It'll be my first time...
This past 4th of July weekend I took my Type R on a trip I had always wanted to do: going down the California coast. The plan was drive up to Monterey and spend a few nights there before driving down to Big Sur for a night and then on the last day, since the 1 is split in 2 due to a closure in...
Little late to the party, but just wanted to drop by and say that my car was indeed part of the recall. I got the letter a few weeks ago. Taking it in tomorrow morning to get it taken care of.
This update is a week overdue, but I'm finally back in the Type R :D
Last weekend is was cold and rainy in SoCal, but this morning was perfect to get back out on the mountain!
(figured I'd at least stop for pics if the conditions weren't good enough to drive last weekend)
Today though was...
Damn, I haven't been on this forum for a few days since my car is out, but I'm sorry to see this happen to another one. Hopefully we get our bumpers soon 🤞glad to hear everyone was okay
Given the state of the Type R market now, I'm glad they're repairing it since I didn't want to deal with trying to find another one. There was a point when I thought, "if this car gets totalled, would I buy another one or get something else?"
Also, the idea of extending my debt didn't seem so...
Headlights were scuffed lol
They said the work itself would take them about 2 weeks, but the big thing is parts availability so they don't know exactly. Exterior panels plus some interior parts plus some other stuff. I'll upload the full sheet here
Little update.
They're gonna go ahead and repair the car. For those curious, parts and labor (which the other persons insurance is gonna cover) is 15k. The head lights are the most expensive part at 1400 a housing lmao
I'm to call the shop tomorrow or the day after to see what their time...
