How often are you rotating tires during the weekend? Looking at the track, it’s going to toast the inside of the RF tire just due to layout (due to wheel spin).

I drove Gingerman at the 2015 ITR Expo… it’s shockingly similar to Roebling Road in Savannah with a tiny bit of elevation. Agreed on needing to optimize for the sweepers that are there… some rear toe out should help or, if you can dial out some rear camber, that may give you a similar result...
Interesting… I’ve done a decent amount of Autox with mine and will doing Targa South next month but haven’t really found it to need a ton to loosen it up. I’m running a ~10psi split between front to rear and it seems pretty willing to “dance” on corner entry for sweepers. With the looooong...
If you’re just getting back into autox, the CTR seems like it could be a great fit. It’s fine around town, managed to feel “special” from the driver’s seat, and it’s plenty enjoyable on course.
I ran another local event last weekend and continue to be impressed. The site is a club size track...
Went to another local event last weekend and… yeah, this car is still shockingly capable stock. Ended up first in BS (of 8) and 6th PAX (of ~85ish).
For those who’ve added front camber and tossed a rear bar onto the car, do you feel like it actually changed the balance much (in general) or is...
Disclaimer: I haven’t tracked my FL5 but I’ve done autox, DE, DE instructing, and Club racing since ~2001.
With your very limited track experience, my bet is that most of the issue is driver inputs… which I can’t see on your videos. The Catalyst is great for lap times and whatnot but sucks when...
Yep, and the longer you race/run DE’s, the more opportunities you get for free or reduced cost track days… and there are some of us who’ve been doing this stuff for 20-30-40+ years. IIRC, I did my first autox in 2001 and first DE shortly after that. In the ensuing ~23 years, I’ve bounced between...
Seat time, hold off on mods/tires until your average finishing position stagnates, ride with faster drivers, and let faster drivers ride with you. You’ll get way more relevant feedback/coaching from someone who can see your driving in-person vs the general tips and suggestions you’ll get online...
Small world… I was at this event ^^ running my Elise in SS (20th raw above). I was working course during your runs and was super impressed by how composed the car looked in transitions… it looked fun enough that I started casually shopping them. This eventually resulted in me picking up an FL5 a...
It’s been years but, IIRC, some of the early/mid 90’s Mazda stuff suffered from “tranny spread” issues at high HP/TQ. Essentially, with enough power, the angled teeth on the gears can transmit enough lateral torque across the gear stack. This results in the tranny “spreading” and lower tooth...
I’ve done the same on EF/DC chassis cars… take a factory backing plate and use tin snips to cut it down to where it’s mostly open (to allow airflow) but can still protect ball joint/tie rod boots. IMO, it’s a solid long term solution vs tape/wrap.
