Pressing the A/C button indeed shows "AC OFF". But it also disabled the auto climate control

Interesting, I figured it was turning on/off the A/C compressor as needed based on temperature setting. Really strange that it just runs it all the time especially nowadays with emissions and whatnot. I'll give this a try the next time I notice the problem, thanks

I do have this feature too, it's not enabled though. Testing it out, it's pretty bizarre that you can have max heat out one vent and max A/C out the other vent. It works quite well.

Agreed with TypeRD, this has happened to me maybe 3 or 4 times in 5k miles. Synchros in unlucky alignment means they won't do their job and let you engage first gear. If you're locked out of first, shift to second, then to first. Has worked every time for me. It seems to happen more frequently...
