  1. *The FL5 Track Junkie Thread*

is acceleration not what you meant when you said "the car just didn't charge as hard"?
  2. *The FL5 Track Junkie Thread*

I mean thats what tells you acceleration...
  3. *The FL5 Track Junkie Thread*

I'm not really seeing that... you're hitting either equal speeds on most straights (defined as full throttle sections, not physically straight) as your last track vid, with in 1 mph on 2 of them
  4. Dixcel Rotors

have y'all seen the ones Sake Bomb Garage sells that are 2mm thicker than stock, supposed to still work with oem calipers and everything. They have an AP rotor and a "value" rotor option in that size
  5. FL5 Overheated on Track

yeah but they could have been designed better in those applications as well... just cause its not a performance application doesn't mean intake temps don't matter I'm not trying to say intake temps are causing the overheating issue, just that hot IATs are bad for power. although there's a...
  6. FL5 Overheated on Track

Yeah I heard about that. But really this is a problem Honda shouldn’t have created in the first place. They designed it from scratch, could have easily done it in a way that doesn’t heatsoak the intake (sorry, I’m in a complaining mood😁)
  7. FL5 Overheated on Track

but they really didn't need to run the intake pipe over the turbo/cat/downpipe... either put the intake on the other side or turn the turbo 180° and you don't have the IAT's super heated
  8. *The FL5 Track Junkie Thread*

y'all can take a page out of my book and track a 5k beater that I totally didn't dump 10k into to make it trackable... that way you don't have to bother with track insurance (he says as he sits here trying to talk himself out of buying an FL5)
  9. *The FL5 Track Junkie Thread*

HA! Looks like I had a massive brain fart… idk how I looked at 135 and then 145 and came up with 20… I was even doing the math in my head for my local track and going from 130 to 150 and still not connecting the dots… my bad… and yes, 11mph is still a huge difference, but a little bit more...
  10. *The FL5 Track Junkie Thread*

back straight you had a 20mph difference between this vid and your Jester Tuned lap record vid. 24 on the start/finish straight-ish, although this one looked like you lifted a bit? or was it the car not pulling anymore? pretty sure you lifted.. but it looked like you stayed in it for the...
  11. Best combined track and street pad?

using your logic, the squealing noise should be gone after driving it just a few minutes with cold rotors. Yet there was still squealing noise months later... its not that I'm decided or stubborn or don't agree with how you describe things the transfer layer does or does not stay on. Its are...
  12. Best combined track and street pad?

not really agree or disagree kinda thing... I'm talking about a specific experience I had. the sanding was to make sure to get any residue of the wilwood compound it picked up out of it. Didn't try it on the new rotors before sanding, maybe it woulda been fine. But since he got new rotors to...
  13. Best combined track and street pad?

naw, it takes considerably longer than a few minutes. and you have to have super abrasive pads to get rid of it 100%. going back to this specific case, these pads stayed super loud on my friends car till he got new rotors and sanded down the pads a bit on a belt sander. we're talking months...
  14. Best combined track and street pad?

naw its the mixing compounds, at least this specific pad. like I mentioned in the paragraph above, I daily'd this same actual pad for a winter with zero to minimal noise. Drives home from the track were always quiet... The track pads I have, Porterfield R4, make a little noise. Just enough...
  15. Best combined track and street pad?

there are track pads that don't squeal like a banshee when cold/normal driving. I daily drove Raybestos ST43 (pretty much impossible to get anymore) pads for a winter and they were quiet for the most part. They'd start making a little noise once every couple weeks, just had to do a couple of...
  16. Best combined track and street pad?

There's no such thing as a good hybrid pad, you're sacrificing somewhere. Sure there are street pads that will hold up and resist fade for track use, but you'll go through them really fast. Sure there are track pads that will work on the street and stop your car even at subzero temps, but...
  17. FL5 Track Considerations

I wouldn't hold my breath for Circuit of the Northwest. Its gonna be a private members only track, last I heard membership entry was $50k. The really annoying thing is they got public funding to help build the track. Hopefully they'll have some regular public track days like some other...
