Update I ended up changing my ground wire to the chassis today rather than ground directly to the battery. Both options appear to be safe from all that I have read even on the CTEK website.

It's all good. I ended up using the battery method. I had to put a notch in that red plastic cover on the positive terminal though. Not sure if you have the same experience. BTW, I love all your Youtube videos. I was watching them before I bought my car and still continue to watch them. Tokyo...

Just watched your video. I have the older CTEK MXS 5.0 that I've used on previous cars. However, I never connected it directly to the battery, instead I used cig plug adaptor. I just tried using this method today, but it doesn't seem to work on the FL5. Wonder if you have tried using the cig...
