There's a wide range of opinions, but would love to hear your thoughts:

I purchased my '24 CTR in January 2024 and racked up about ~700 miles. Do people generally lean on changing oil after 1 year, even with low total miles driven?

Appreciate your inputs!

And yes... I need to take the car out more often.... Just haven't had the time to enjoy it as much, but it's THE car I want to keep long-term. ;)

Not another one of these threads again.

There's going to be answers ranging from following the Maintenance Minder to people who follow strict OCI's to people who would change out their oil if it gets dark to an arbitrary amount.

I'll check the archive to see if I can find a similar post. I lean towards sticking with the maintenance minder, but did hear it's a good practice to change oil after 1 year, regardless of miles driven. 🤷‍♂️

If you’re thinking about it enough to come here, you should just go ahead and do it. $100 in an hour of your time is worth the peace of mind.

I am curious though why only 700 miles? Feels like having a hot girlfriend and not fucking her because you wanna keep her fresh for the next guy.

Former dealer remployee here, your oil should be changed at least once a year regardless of mileage driven. do yourself a favor and put some more miles on that thing. Pretty much any 0W-20 from a reputable brand is fine. Don't get caught up in changing the oil weight unless you have upgraded the turbo on your car or track it regularly.

Fair question. I'm similarly situated. The A1 Maintenance Minder came on for me after about 11 months of ownership and mileage was 651 and I had the oil changed. I'm Team Maintenance Minder if you're using the car as largely a commuter. If you track the car, I believe the calculus should change relative to the use case.

Also, no need to justify the set of circumstances around ownership. Ownership isn't a monolith. You have the right to drive, modify, track, or leave it under a car cover in your garage for as much/long or little as you wish.

Another oil change thread. Honestly, most of us dont care what you do with your car. Change it when the light comes on or dont or do it at 5 miles.

The old lady in her 2023 Nissan Maxima would smoke most Type R's off the line. The Type R is not a super car. The old lady in her V6 Maxima isnt making threads on the Nissan forums about her first oil change.

I’m so glad somebody was here to protect him from questions on the Internet.

I was legitimately curious why somebody would spend money on something and not use it, and I thought I could have a few laughs along the way.

Maybe it's not his only fun car? He could have a full stable of stuff or only drives it on the weekends when it's nice out. People enjoy their cars in many different ways.

And that’s the question I’m asking. I’m curious how you end up with so few miles. I have two fun cars and a daily driver. I got my R in November so it has been in the garage for most of winter and I still put 2000 miles so far.

Haha. Great metaphor.

I plan to change the oil at 1 yr and then <= 5k miles thereafter if that helps @juskim92

I did mine a little over a year and just under 1k miles. You could have the dealer do it for free, I think you get 2 or 3 before 2 years/24k miles.

Yes another thread .. that you could just not respond to. Most of us also don't care for your complaints. Point him to an existing thread or just move on.

And yes V6 Maxima is faster off the line, it'll also get stolen more often, likely worse drivers, and... It's a Nissan. I'm sure Maxima forums have the same question.. but that a Nissan....
I don't see what your point is.

there have been several videos of a 500-600 mile oil change testing results, almost all of which contain particulate metals and also silicones iirc. there's other material content too but either way seems to me like an early break-in oil change could only ever help considering we would be eliminating those materials from circulation as they accumulate. alot of people say that the seating process and changes in friction occurring early on the life of the engine are reason enough to change the oil a bit early. i'm at 2500 miles right now and I've changed twice, once at 600~, and again just recently at 2500. currently on amsoil signature series full synthetic 0w-20. for now the car is not driven on track.

not sure why there's people around here who insist on replying in any other manner than to be helpful. you guys suck
