Battle Bee Oil Cooler
Battlebee oil coolers are made in china. You can grab them on AliExpress. I also ordered the transmission cooler which sits on the adjacent side of the oil cooler. There are a few thermostat options, I went with the 92c thermostat after much consideration. This can be changed later on if I need the oil to be cooled earlier

Thermostat is built-in here.

Impressive. Doesn’t look any worse than Hel but it’s a Hel-lot cheaper

Dashcam Installation
I’ve been using DDPAI dashcams since their initial launch. They provide high-quality sensors and excellent post-processing. I prefer to install them myself, as many shops and technicians tend to rush the job, often skipping proper preparation and risking scratches.

To remove the A-pillar cover easily, start by taking off part of the window molding. Then, place your fingers in the groove and pull the A-pillar cover in the opposite direction.

Even with the service manual, removing the top clip was difficult because I couldn’t access the upper inner clip while the A-pillar cover was still attached.

Apparently, you simply need to slide the A-pillar cover out and upward after pulling it. Take care not to damage your headliner during this process, as it gets quite close.

There are two screws that must be removed before you can take off the side panel on the driver’s side. I hope no one attempts to pull this panel off without realizing this, as most cars typically don’t have screws securing the side panel. Interestingly, the passenger side panel doesn’t have any screws at all.

This has been the most difficult part of the installation. It took me a while to figure it out because I didn’t want to lower the headliner too much and risk damaging the edges. Apparently, there’s a hole next to the grommet hole where you need to loop the wire puller in and out of the headliner. Bending the wire puller into a U shape will help it come out from the back.

It was also quite challenging to push the wire puller into the hole. I had to wiggle the harness inside while inserting the puller. My rear dashcam wire is thick, so I couldn’t tuck it under the windscreen edges. Instead, I had to loop it back and pull it out through the rear wiper washer hole.

Connected the rear cam. Wrapped it up with felt tape and pulled back the excess wire.

Taped the excess up and it’s good as oem

I wanted to cut out these grills to route two wires out to the dashcam but it seems like I could just stretch them and pass through the cables.

I managed to get the wires through without breaking anything.

Stripping off the interior

I’ve seen several videos where people use prying tools on the soft-touch dashboard and AC vent to remove them, risking scratches and damage. However, you can easily pop them out without any damage by first removing the side panel. Then, use your hand to push the AC vent out from behind. Gently pull the trim from both the top and bottom simultaneously towards the other end, and it will come out smoothly without risk of damage.

Always a good idea to tape this up. It’s almost a guarantee hit when removing the AC trim

Active sound module

The fake exhaust note module is attached to the glovebox assembly. One wire and two clips are what you need to remove.



Stage 2 Acuity Short Shifter

Somehow I missed out the solid shifter bushing. Gotta buy it tomorrow and complete the upgrade

The most effective way to remove this is by using a sharp pick tool to tap on each locking leaf. Avoid using a flathead screwdriver, as it can slip and scratch the shifter frame. Gently tap each leaf, and it will eventually come loose.

managed to get the final missing piece

I finished installing the stage 2 kit today, but I’ll hold off on the spherical bushing until I work on the engine bay. The shift from 4th to 5th feels a bit tight and difficult. It’s not as short and crisp as the CAE shifter I remember from a GR Yaris I tested. I still have the Hybrid Racing detent springs and Aquity spherical bushings left to install.

Acuity Esco + Collar

I’m not a big fan of this setup. First of all the circumference of the collar is too narrow. It’s impossible to not have any wrinkles when zip tying the boot down. I have hyper-hidrosis. My hands are permanently sweating. Metal/Delrin knobs slip off my hand when shifting. Also I kinda like low shifter and I do taichi/kungfu shifts. These will have to go. I’ve ordered the red Honda Access leather knob. If anybody wants these drop me a dm.

Hybrid Racing Detent Springs + Acuity Spherical Bushings

Didn't grab many pics here. Installation is cumbersome. I did it the “proper” way by first releasing the retention clips on the shifter cables before prying out the bushings. I’ve only shifted with the car stationary and didn’t feel a whole lot diff with the spherical bushing. OTOH changing spherical bushing on the GRC made a huge difference. The detent springs definitely gave more confident that the shifter will default into center position. You can’t possible shift wrongly with these mods.

TSP Fender Rock Guard Installation

Remove the screws. Pop the clips. I broke all of them. I’ve removed a lot of clips under the car and none broke but these clips are just especially fragile. Had some spare lying around so I used those. Gonna order some new original clips

Got myself some replacement clips today. May as well grab some filters!

AWE Touring Exhaust

I have not listened to them in person but I’ve heard them in the B58 M340i. Very nice sounding exhaust and definitely no drone on the Touring edition. Got myself the chrome tips and a customer ordered a set of black tips.

The other day I installed a customer/friend’s exhaust. The whole muffler was crooked in relation to the outlet section. It’s really blatant.

Here’s mine in comparison. At least this set is relatively leveled. When it comes to welding quality, this is not the best but I have seen one particular brand that is far worse. But let’s not mention it.

With regards to the sound. It sounded really good with no drone in the cabin when paired with stock downpipe. I’m running Catless RV6. I think it’s going to be really loud. However it’s never going to be notoriously loud like Tomei/RSE.

I particularly like AWE’s tip sizes and finishing.

Hondata Time

Ecu held by two 10mm. Remove that and unclip the harness. Remove the four 10mm to release it from the metal casing. My unlocker didn’t need me to remove it out of the plastic housing

Jailbreak is done today.

Wouldn’t wanna drop this in the engine bay.

HKS Hipermax R + Stanceparts Aircup
If you ever decide to get a pair of air cups for Hipermax, you’d need the 45mm cups. Unfortunately they are out of stock at the moment and I’m still waiting for my cups to be shipped. I can’t foresee driving the car anywhere with a lowered 18” setup

Collected the Hipermax R with Canceller kit today. Unfortunately the air cups are still not available.

The front is installed today. I’m disappointed to see that the shock body isn’t adjustable. Some R’s in other cars have adjustable casing length. I’ll remove the springs and do a bump stop check. I really don’t wanna destroy my fenders/tires.

Here’s a view on how to adjustment knob gets routed to the bottom of the wheel arch.

Taped up the contact point to prevent tapping noise/rattle

Another strange thing that I realized is that the testing data and optimal height published by HKS doesn’t match the stock height that I measured myself.

SPC Forged Rear Camber Arm

Opted for the forged iron arms over aluminum ones. I am running full set Whiteline suspension kit but the Whiteline arm just looks like a serious overkill and it’s quite a bit heavier than SPC’s offering.

Unfortunately these do not come with the sensor brackets. Gotta have to order the aluminum ones.

Throttle Pedal Offset Spacer

Got these from “Taobao - China Amazon”. Haven’t installed them but seems to solidly made.

Custom Forged Rims
I scanned and replicated my TE37 Saga S Plus face 4 and face 5 that I had on my Supra. I opted for a 10.5 +47 upfront and a 9.5 +38 on the rear. 9.5 +45 is common but after seeing both +45 and +38 in person, it was clear to me that a 265 9.5 +38 on a lowered stance with the extra camber looked much more flushed than a +45. Rims will be done in a couple more days.

Rims are done. Will be wrapping them in Bridgestone RE71RS 295 front and 265 rear. I’d like to go thicker profile once I’m done with these.

27Won Kuro Turbo

I’m aiming for 400hp+ of usable power on the street and on the track. Much thanks to Corey @Two Step Performance for the advice. Hope the turbo delivers what I need. To put down these power I opted for 295 RE71RS. A very common tire size and choice for those who track their Type R here.

Pracworks CF Intake Manifold

Received the intake manifold today. Rather impressive “locally” made product to be honest. Haven’t really taken it out of the box yet. Pictures taken by factory.

Reassembly

Rattle Fix #1

I’m not sure what this module is but this is the cause of rattle under the dashboard around the hvac controller. It’s held by a push pin. You need to put your hand above and behind the controller and pinch it then lift up to remove it. Pad it with some foam tape before reinstalling to eliminate any play

Update: It seems this is an immobilizer. Without this connected the car would crank but it would never start

Taped up the plate so there’s absolutely no play from this module.

A Pillar Cover

Takes only a couple seconds to prevent possible scratches.

this was challenging to remove earlier on. Clip it all the way back before pushing the cover back into place.

There’s nothing much to talk about reassembling the cover. Remove the molding, align the clips to the holes, and just clip it back.

Rear view Mirror Covers

There were rattles coming from this area. I simply padded the edge with 3M foam tape before reinstalling this.

Initially I wanted the rv6 660as but the chart just didn’t seem very right. Let me try this kuro and report back. I’m expecting some good low end results with the pracworks intake manifold in this build.

Oh btw the only track I have here has a couple of long corners and a long straight. 400hp and above needed to hit certain timing for sure.
