fenders are from alibaba. it is cheaper!

Thatā€™s my brother-in-lawā€™s CRX with a turbocharged B20 engine, and itā€™s insanely fast on the track with an unbeatable power-to-weight ratio. Sometimes I wonder if I should get the same car to reduce my consumable costs.

Get a used Miata. Cheap consumables and fun to drive (also the butt of jokes at every track day drivers meeting).

After totaling my S2000, I vowed never to buy another RWD car. From now on, I'll stick with FWD and AWD. Even though my Tesla is AWD, itā€™s RWD-biased. Roadsters are great until you try to use them for dual purposes. The main reason I bought the Type R is to track it while still being able to take 2-5 hour trips on holidays or weekends. My 2nd choice was the brand M2 and the Supra.

Maybe in the future, Iā€™ll get a CRX. My brother-in-law has two, so Iā€™m sure I can convince him to sell me the second one with a B18 in it.

I hear you. I retired my S2000 to C&C and to the dentist duties. Iā€™m using the FL5 for track days because it takes a lot to trash a FWD car. But my comment was based on your comment about cheap consumables. A used Miata is cheaper to start with and you would get the same ā€œmomentumā€ driving as the CRX.

Went to Streets of Willow yesterday, where the highest temp reached 102Ā°F. Thankfully, I didnā€™t notice any signs of overheating from the car. However, I keep an eye on the temps and slow down once it exceeds 250Ā°F. I feel a noticeable loss in power between 220Ā°F and 240Ā°F. The vents seem to have made a big difference compared to my last visit, where I was overheating by the second or third lap. This time, I managed to run 7-8 laps. Around the 5th lap, though, my tires felt shot, and I was sliding quite a bit. The RV6 rear sway bar and Spoon front stiff plate seem to help a lotā€”I can brake late and swing the car confidently. Surprisingly, the rear isnā€™t oversteering, just enough slide to assist my novice skills. Iā€™ll be installing a second oil cooler soon, hopefully by next weekend. Here are some pics:
