Hey all.
So my son replaced the OE tires (GoodYear Eagle Sport) that were on the car with a set of DWS06+ based on all the research that I had done. A friend of mine has them on his 2018 Camaro SS and is happy with them too so that was the lock.
Now what is funny, while the rims were off waiting for tire swap, he was on winters and immediately noticed a near 10% change in fuel economy. The winters are Bridgestone WS90. He is driving the same hour long route on the highway for a couple months in total for some training. We put the DWS06+ on last night and he reported that the economy stayed the same as the winters. More days are needed to average some things out, I am sure but this is weird to me that the old Eagles even being down more than half their usable tread life, would be that much worse for rolling resistance?
I can see 2% to 5% but 10% just seems super weird.
The car specifically is a Canadian 2022 Touring sedan. No change in tire size between the eagles and the contis. Both are OE size. Winters are 215 on a 16" rim, which is also an available size for the Civic (So no diameter change)
