Phoenix Yellow and Black interior might have done it for me. But just black interior no thanks. 100% money grab.
Exactly lol. Honda realized they priced the the FL5 too low in JDM now they trying to make a bit more lol. But I think the real reason behind is that their red interior supplier couldn’t make enough for them to fill all the back orders before March 2026 (looks loke they gonna cease production after March. Because the new noise regulation will be in place July 2026, making this car non complaint to produce anymore in Japan)

We are a fickle bunch. When the seats aren’t red, we cried, why isn’t it red? When the carpets aren’t red, we cried, why isn’t all red? It’s all red now. So obviously, why is everything red? Too much red. If Honda had given the option to customize seat, console and carpet colors. I’m sure we’d cry about the pricing.

Oh, when I say we, I mean the small minority that are just missing a screw or two.

The alcantara dash and door panels are nice on this black package, but personally enjoy the red carpet and seats in the "regular" Type-Rs. For those that opt for that Black package, they better get some ceramic window tint on that windshield as I can see the UV rays just eating away at that material much quicker than black plastic.

This is how misinformation gets spread. A simple noise regulation will requite an additional noise baffle within the exhaust to meet such a regulation. Honda is not going to lose millions of dollars in lost sales along with the extensive R&D and factory tooling for the FL5.

Pretty sure Honda loses money on every single one they make just for the sake of making a halo car for the brand. It is what it is. The chief engineer explicitly told the press when it’s launched that they simply couldn’t improve this engine anymore, everything has been juiced out to its max potential for its spec while meeting emission standards around the world. This engine is now more than 10 years old.

A PowerPoint slide at the launch event in Tokyo HQ also only showed the expected production numbers til 2025. It’s meant to be a short production run.

I have made a similar post on reddit and this info been confirmed by other Japanese redditors through their dealers and a logistic contractor who worked at yorii plant where they produced all FL5s. He was flatly told 2025 is the last production year. You could say anyone can say anything online just take it with a grain of salt. But all data been matching up.

Canada been consistently getting around the same number of FL5s each year as told when it first launched (3-year allocations only).

JDM still not resumed the order books for the ¥5M FL5 is also a sign, if they plan to modify the exhaust and continue making the car why they stopped accepting orders since Jan 2023. Because they knew they couldn’t meet the demands and fulfill all back orders before they cease production.

I'm excited about the return of OEM carbon trim; thanks for the details fellas! As for the Alcantara dash and door panels, I'm not the biggest fan, but they do look great in the ad car. On a red CTR, they pop more so, but on black or white, they might come off as too minimalistic, even for a minimalist like me. I love the appeal of the red CTR, I've even second guessed my color choice these past few weeks haha.....but with over 100 tickets in my youth, I just can’t bring myself to commit to another red car.

Interesting story, but I still don't believe your opinion. The FL5 will follow in the FK8 footsteps - remain in production for as long as that generation base Civic goes. The final year will see an LE edition which will include the iconic Phoenix Yellow paint scheme. A black interior package will not be the send off note for the FL5.

Regarding orders being stopped in Japan - they have a backlog of 2-3 years worth and doesn't make sense to increase it to 4-5 years worth based on their analysis of Japan allocated vehicles from the factory.
