I'll be going to Japan and wondering if there's anything cool or exclusive I could buy for the FL5 that's not available in the US. Even if it's Honda parts, it might be cheaper to buy in Japan given the exchange rate.

Not really. Most things you can buy there, you can be here and have shipped. The biggest issue is returning with a large item since you're space limited. For example, Varis items can be had for the low relative to what we have to pay here, but if you bought a lip, how would you come back with it on the airplane?

Spoon parts are available from their shop and not that large. Check out autobacs for cool stuff as well. I found a lot of great JDM magazines and toys. I also toyed with bringing wheels back 🤣 the check baggage fee was much less than shipping and the prices were really good. Blackhawk Japan will ship to your hotel while you're there if you put in an order ahead of time.

I went in November and had a blast good luck!

Seconding Autobacs: you can get Mugen parts (license plate bolts, shift knobs, etc) for a fraction of what you'd pay in the states. I got their leather wrapped knob for around $60 (retails closer to $180 here).

While I was there I had meetings with autobacs corporate and they had no idea their flagship store was a tourist destination for car people. I had a big bag of things I purchased they thought it was hilarious that I would visit their store while in Japan. It's worth the trip imo. They also had some unique clothing. I picked up a few fun hoodies for my kids.

I'd look as small trim peices and floor mats etc if you can fit them/have the weight to spare. I got a red boot mat from Japan and most of the cost was postage so that would be sweet to bring back.

Currency exchange rate is in our favor. Around 157 yen/$ now. Was closer to 100 when I was there years ago, which made on the spot conversions easy for me.

I’d buy watches if you’re into them.

Good call 👍 lots of cool JDM Seiko options.
I was thinking more of the Grand Seikos and other Swiss brands that might have been sitting in the display for a while.

The Grand Seiko store was nice to check out. I have Spoon taste and a PRL budget though 😂
