In addition to an electrically driven headlight-leveling system, the headlamp also has a manual vertical aiming adjustment. The white gear visible on the rear of the headlamp (the portion inside the engine bay) is the manual adjustment interface. Turning it mechanically raises or lowers the lamp’s baseline beam aim or "zero" aim; the electronic leveling system then operates around that baseline.
