Personally I can't stand gloss black anything especially on the interior or exterior of cars. Really hard to keep clean and it scratches extremely easy. So part 1 of my de-black-ification is changing to body color mirrors. Really brings back that 90s Honda styling and matches the rest of the car. Please feel free to reference these part numbers for your color of choice, as always please verify they are correct with your dealer before ordering as I am not responsible for you ordering wrong parts. They ran me $38 with tax for both sides. Of course with all the different colors you don't have to match the body.

As far as install there are two methods you can use. The first mirror I opted to remove the glass entirely (as I referenced a youtube video). Tilt the glass to one side and you can slide a screwdriver between the white base and the black clips that are attached to the glass. Simply twist to separate. Repeat on all four locations to pop the glass out. There are two connectors to unclip. From there you have full access to the inside. I found re-clipping the glass to the housing was very difficult. I would not choose this option again.

Option 2 is what I tried 2nd after noticing you can access the mirror cap clips just by tilting the glass. You only need to access the one to force it out enough to create a gap on the exterior. I did this by jamming a clip underneath the clip and wedging it in place. Once you create a gap in the corner by the turn signal gently insert a small pocket screwdriver enough to get a gap on top and slip in your plastic pry tool. After you slip that in just work around the sides and pull out. Good chance you break some clips on the original. After removal simply line up your new cap and snap into place. It is important to note even if you fully remove the glass you can still only access 2 of the 4 clips, as the other are in a blind hole.

Thanks for sharing! When I replaced my mirror caps I did method #1 and it was a PITA. If I ever swap them out I’ll refer to your DIY for method #2 haha.

That looks really good. Note, I think the black mirror housings are perhaps a nod to (I believe) the last Type R that was made in Japan (i.e. the Honda NSX Type R)…which also had a black wing.

So you’re going down a path I’ve been considering and at $40 these are a no brainer, looking great. Are you going to do the antenna fin and spoiler as well? What to do with the lip, skirts, and diffuser? CF eventually maybe?

Thanks for pulling this together. I think they look great. I noticed Championship White is not listed. Is this color not available?

We're aligned in our thinking and ppf will be my solution for the gloss black bits (mirrors covers, rockers, b pillars, etc.) I thought to offer ppf as a solution but the OP seems more concerned with the color black and the finish (gloss) and prefers body colored pieces.

This is in the FL5 section, but I take it the part numbers that were posted work for all Civics? Are the side view mirrors the same between all Civics (except for the blinkers vs. non-blinking)?

Correct, part numbers are the same for regular civics

These aren't available for the CTR, hence no CW. But the colored ones on the lesser Civics fit on them.

Champ white is exclusive to the type r, red, black, blue, and sonic gray all carry over from base model. Could just go with the pearl white, since it's not directly next to another painted piece probably will be hard to tell. Champ white is a flat white, the base model has a pearl white.

Possibly, but the current trend in car design is black accents and accessories. Even the conservative Accord has a blacked out sport model. Also according to the Japanese designer the gloss black door dash and mirrors blend in with the door glass to create a seamless look. I like black trim but prefer matte, or body color when possible.

They are a completely different white so I don't think this is a good recommendation. Your best bet would be to buy the white so the inside is that color but then paint the outside Championship White.

For $20 for 1 it would be worth the shot. Could obviously have them painted, or get a color match rattle can.
