Like many of us, I am slightly frustrated with the lack of options for intake systems. I purchased the PRL piping with hopes for their airbox solution ........ well, you know the rest. About a week ago, Dream Automotive listed their new airbox for sale on their website ....... the Pro-Ram Induction Kit. I decided to order and give it a try and I have to say that I am glad I did. It married up well with the PRL system and with all aftermarket parts, it did need a little massaging for the perfect fit but it worked out really great in my opinion. I was not to crazy for the Pipercross rig ....... not a big fan of foam filters having 2 of them split at the seam in the past. Good fitment, big sound, great looks, what's not to like considering our choices. Link and pics are as follows:

Very similar to the Pipercross but what's likely a better filter. The Piper's "airbox" is a bit more boxed out. I don't like foam either and at some point I'll find a replacement for mine.

Amazing how much turbo sound you get with an open intake right? Love it.

Yeah ......... total fun driving now for sure. As soon as I saw the pleated filter and the somewhat smaller box. I knew that I had to try it.

Would you recommend purchasing the PRL piping in addition to this intake system? Or will installing this as is be fine?

I can't be definitive on your question ........ sorry. I had the piping already in place waiting like others and I just decided to try it. There is supposed to be some Instagram post from Dream claiming 8 hp just from the box that was proven on their dyno tests but nothing officially posted on their website. They seem to be pretty thin when it comes to supporting facts.

The one thing that I have found out about ordering aftermarket parts is that you need to call and check stock first. Most of the websites are just not accurate and they do not mind taking your money and having you wait for back order. Just saying ........... ;-)

Dream was very good about giving me an update on my intake when I ordered it.

I'd really love to see research on these tubes and whether they actually make a difference with charge temps. My hunch? Once everything heat soaks it doesn't matter.

When I had my Veloster N, I installed a Forge intake. That is just a tube and filter ........ no air box whatsoever. The temps were only 1 degree difference compared to the stock box with a K&N filter. All intakes are going to pull in air from the front when the car is moving. Idling in parking lot traffic for an extended period of time is always going to be an issue.

Wait, so will this work if we have the PRL Turbo Inlet pipe kit? Or do you need a different set of piping from PRL for this dream intake to work?

Mates right up with the PRL kit. The PRL unit is designed to mate to the stock air box. The Dream box is designed for the stock intake piping which means everything is stock specs. The pics that I have posted gives you the proof.

do you think you’d change to the prl HVI when it releases or are you good with this? Worried about heat soak at all?

I'm gonna run this since I have spent the money and I have not seen any heat soak yet ....... don't think I'm gonna see it either. It really comes down to how long are you going to wait.
