Got notification today to download an update for the head unit. Not sure what they fixed, but CarPlay connects way faster and has less lag. I already disabled the built in gps but this appears to be an improvement. Anyone else know what this update actually addresses?

I got this today as well. I noticed it mentioned Navigation updates which could address the crazy ram usage which caused so many of us to disable it?

I haven't updated yet but plan on doing so tonight since it required WiFi. I'll report back what I notice as well!

Checked for the update on my car (in Canada) and didn't see the update available. I guess it's only being pushed in US for now. Good to hear the head unit quicker now!

I never noticed how laggy the stock CarPlay was until I did the update, amazingly responsive.

Checked the version history on my ‘24 and it was already on the version history shown in Djsetos post. I did have a SW update performed by the dealer back in June when it was in for a CEL. I wonder if that update is juts being pushed now, but some ‘24s were delivered with it.

I started thinking that as well that the newer cars had this update. Which seems weird that they would just now get the update on the '23s especially with the '25s being on the lots now.

Luckily I’ve never had a problem Android Auto without having to disable the native navigation. I’m not what is different after installing the OTA update.

Clearly Honda is late for us 2023 folks. Night and day difference. I might even turn factory nav on to see if it is good now.

Disabling the native nav actually ends up breaking GPS in Android Auto. Figured that out the hard way and then read about others seeing the same. AA has been very reliable for me so far.

I turned mine off on my 2024 after Carplay/google maps glitched within the first week of owning the car. No issues since.

So did I. With this update car play connect within maybe 5-10 seconds of getting in the car. Before it was a good 30 seconds plus.

Same here. So much faster. I couldn't disable nav since I'm running android. So glad this update came out and the forum posted it. I would not have known otherwise.

I just reenabled the Nav on mine. I disabled it day one after reading about the stories on here, not realizing I had a newer software version in my 2024.

CarPlay has stopped jumping around on Google maps now. I suspect disabling the nav also disables the car sharing it’s GPS info with your phone.
