Ok guys hopefully this helps out the community. I removed the rear bench seat (11.2lbs), D/s rear back seat (21.8 lbs), P/s rear back seat (11.2lbs), rear tool tray and carpet cover (12.8 lbs), rear floor carpets and all the bolts for seats (1.6 lbs) and last but not least the rear shade cover (2 lbs). Total weight savings is 60.6 lbs. not bad at all. I’ll ride around a few days like this and then put everything back together. I just wanted to have an idea 💡 what the weight savings are like. Here are pictures of everything. Cheers.

Thank you for listing and weighing the parts.

Weight reduction is always good, but since this weight is coming out of the back of a front heavy car, let us know how your driving is affected.

Just got back from driving it. Car definitely has a little more zip. I can't tell to much of a difference on the handling and turn in. I will probably say though adding a rear upper strut bar and a rear sway bar should counter any potential negative affects this weight savings may add. I did take two hard turns on the drive (there was a lot of traffic) and the rear felt a little more playful. Nothing drastic though. I'm going to drive it at highway speeds here shortly to see what the cabin noise is like. So far at speeds of 30-50 it sounds the same. Overall the removal of everything took about 45 minutes. The hardest part was the bench seat. It has these pinch clips. It's a new design Honda has came out with. In past civics or rsx etc you just pull on the seat and it comes out. Not this time. I felt like I was going to tear the damn thing apart. lol.

Here’s pictures of the rest of the removal. All the bolts clips etc. Both rear back seats have a total of 8 bolts holding it in place. One that is removed you have two other bolts holding the bench seat in place. The rear cargo tray has two star shaped screws holding it in place.

Just a word of caution... I had a stripped out 97 4-door Civic. Started with removing rear seats and bench. Felt better so then I removed rear seat belt assemblies, door panels etc, just about all interior bits. Makes a great difference, but weight reduction is an addiction! Keep your car looking great, don't rip it apart going down the weight reduction rabbit hole.

Yeah no I won't go that far. I've done it in the past to one other car a 2008 civic si gutted interior and yeah it was stupid light but it was never a car people could get in etc. This one looks good and people want to ride in it. Plus this is very easy to put back together. I just did it to help out the community and see what it feels like driving. Honestly I got the idea this time around from Toyota's Gr Corolla Moritzo edition. I was like, well these assholes are charging you a premium for removing interior bits and calling it a special edition :D I can do the same thing for free!

Great posts and very helpful. Thank you! I'm planning to remove the rear seat and weld in a race-ready roll cage. I'm thinking about using rigid foam board to construct a platform over which I'll cover it with the same red carpeting for a more finished look as a DD and lift it out for the track. I gutted my S2000, and as cautioned above went a tad overboard, and ended up with a single-purpose roadster that jarred kidneys, rattled bones, and frightened the neighbors

Yeah I did that before and don’t want to do that with this car. 60lbs feels solid honestly in terms of performance.

Add forged rims and titanium exhaust = stage 2 weight reduction. Id steer clear of the lithium battery though.
