I recently had roofracks and a basket on my other car, and it was exactly the same with moonroof open, making it unusable over 30 like u said. I wonder if I got the Thule super slim box on top, if that would eliminate some of that noise since its aerodynamicStill have it on the car and use it quite a bit. Mileage plummets with a bike on there, but drops about 2-3mpg without a bike. I usually sit around 37-38 without the rack, but I average mid 35's with the rack. Wind noise is pretty low, not really noticeable over the noise generated by the OEM tires. With a bike attachment I have noticed added noise, I suspect mostly because of the design of the Yakima attachment traps some air against the fairing. Would probably be less noise without the fairing. One big negative for me with this rack is that I never use the sunroof with it mounted. You loose that "open" feeling, and above 30mph the wind noise is too overpowering. I use the sunroof all the time when the rack is not on the car.
For what its worth, I have thought about selling it for a seasucker.
