Final track day of 2024! I ran on a nearly bald V730 with heavy outside wear, though the inner tread still had some life left. My goal was to finish it off before switching to a new set of RE71RS tires. I also tested my new AP Racing BBK and noticed that the ABS no longer engages like it did with the Paragon two-piece rotors and R5 brake pads. Even when my brother-in-law, a professional driver, tested the car with late braking, the ABS didn’t kick in. I’m wondering if the BBK is the cause.
To fit the BBK, I had to install a 5mm wheel spacer. I’m currently waiting on Mishimoto hub-centric spacers for added security, and I have ARP wheel studs for peace of mind. Once the Mishimoto spacers arrive, I’ll install both.
I made a few other tweaks, including lowering the wing by one screw. The VSA still feels like it’s holding me back, even after disabling it with a long press. I need to work on being more patient during the first two laps to let the tires warm up before pushing hard, it’s tough not to get excited!
This was my second time running my Type R at SOW in CCW configuration. I’m still a bit hesitant in the bowl, but I’d rather lose a few seconds and make sure I bring the car home in one piece.
Here are some photos and videos from the session!
