I looked at the factory video and noticed that the temperature increases quickly and then plateaus at 262-263 F. I converted from C to F. Ambient temps are around 58 F. It's interesting because in videos that owners show from track days I don't see it level off at 263 F, but instead temp continues to climb (even when it's only 58 F outside if it's an advanced driver at the track). I wonder what they did to the factory ring time car (what cooling) that seems to really kick in at that temperature.

edit: oil temperature

My understanding of the oil temperature display value is that it's based on primarily coolant temperature, other measured parameters and a bit of software....it's not based on an oil temperature sensor (CTR's or ITS don't have an oil temperature sensor). The oil temperature display value is calculated. To compare a factory lap time car and a stock customer car you'd need to look at 1) the coolant temperature, and 2) the software estimating the oil temperature. (1) is easy. (2) is not.

I retired as an engineer from a company where we did plenty of estimating temperatures on heavy duty engines. We would have a sensor to measure the temperature, and a software model to estimate what the temperature should be if the cooling system was working well. If the measured and "should be" temperatures are different the something is likely starting to become broken, it just hasn't gotten bad enough to trip a warning. Fixing before failure is the goal.

Most of the YT vids involve a lot of following other cars.... the record vid obviously does not.

That is the difference.

Also, average speed on the Ring record lap is near 120 mph.
Most track days occur on much slower courses, where heat transfer is not as good.

Thanks for the responses, I forgot the lap record car didn't have AC!
