I added the DID option simply to be able to customize/reprogram the wheel without having to separately connect to a computer. This page has more details about the DID. The wheel kit itself also comes with several pads of stickers that can be applied to the backlit buttons.

Regarding the paddles, you will have more clearance if you move the attachment point to the other side and secure with screws like in this PIC:

Thanks...My car is parked in the sun for the most part so UV degradation is another consideration. Rain and wiper use also apply. Not sure if windshield waxes or coatings would be beneficial to consider as an addition or alternative.
