Swift springs should be very capable on track. Lots of coilovers use Swift springs as upgrades over the springs they come with by default (or their default springs are just rebranded Swift springs). The Ohlins R&T Coilovers I had on my M2 had Swift springs as an upgrade.
The FL5 seats are mind-blowing to me, most comfortable seats ever once you are in position. Way more comfy than my M2 seats. I guess fun = comfort to you on a long road trip. I don't know about the FL5 being less "fun" in this respect compared to the ITS since the ITS seats remind me of my M2...
Great write up!
I can confirm that the FL5 is comfortable on longer trips. I didn't do nearly the same amount of driving but on my way back from picking the car up I didn't have any soreness after 4.5 hours.
This was after the initial 5 hour leg of the trip that was in a rental Corolla...
Thanks for the info. I will do this at some point in the near future. This was the only thing I disliked about my FL5 on the 4.5 hour drive back to my house after picking it up from the dealership. I haven't been without an autodimming mirror in a long time and I was getting seriously blinded...
I was going to pick up my FL5 today but plans changed and I was able to do it yesterday. Originally, I was going to fly but something happened with my flight so I rented a car instead. I left the house at 9:30am and didn't get back until 11:30pm, but it was worth it. As instructed, the...
Sounds good, should have sounded like this from the factory. If there isn't any drone I would be interested in trying this. I am pretty sensitive to drone though. On my M2 the first exhaust as relatively quiet but deleted the resonator and I couldn't stand the drone at highway speeds.
Exactly right on the Motive. It isn't terrible but it is sort of cumbersome to use and maintain pressure. 60% of the time, it works every time, haha. Maybe others have better luck with it.
I thought all conclusions pointed at it being a wash to which one was faster? Looks are subjective. I seriously considered both and initially liked how the Type S looked in pictures more. Seeing both in person I like everything about the FL5 more except I think the ITS has a nicer looking ass...
I am giving the Speedi-bleed a try.
I have had a Motive speed bleeder for years but I don't love it. I have had issues a few times with the seal not holding and brake fluid going everywhere and also with the pressure container not holding pressure. I have MacGyvered it to work fine as...
(4) of the lug nuts have splines instead of hex head, thus requiring a special tool to remove. You can see it in the picture of the lug nut box and the lug nut at the roughly 3 o'clock position in the wheel pic.
I actually liked my Mk7 GTI a good deal more than the Mk7 R. Only reason I switched to the R was due to getting t-boned in the GTI.
You essentially had the same power potential with bolt-on upgrades and I never felt the extra money was worth it for the AWD. I also went from 6MT in the GTI to...
For a high strung 4-cylinder it is pretty good. My Mk7 Golf R got 20 MPG or less. My Subaru STi hatchback got closer to 16-18 MPG. Even going to a 6-cylinder, my M2 gets like 22 MPG max if I am cruising on the highway at 65MPH (which is not typical, usually at 70-75MPH). My little 1.3L RX-7...
At least for the short term I will have both the 2023 Civic Type R (when I take delivery in about a week or so) and a 2017 BMW M2. The M2 will be sold after I get the CTR prepped, paint corrected, PPF'd, etc. I can't justify having multiple cars at this time.
Also have my wife's 2014 Honda...
That was my experience very recently when I reached out to about 50 dealerships between the East Coast and TX before finding a deal I was happy with. About half the cars were already pre-sold or in-transit with the dealer not releasing pricing info until the car arrived (to start bidding war...
I knew I didn't want black as the upkeep would drive me crazy. I realize CW is THE Type R color but my current car is white so I wanted a change. My first choice was Rallye Red but the few I were able to find had high markups. I don't even like red cars normally but RR looks fantastic on the...
Clinton Honda in NJ has a decent deal on a BBP FL5. No ADM, $5k options selected by buyer, $1.1k in dealer protection crap. I figured you could get options you want or get something you can resell to recoup some of the expense.
Does requiring financing through them and a trade-in. I didn't...
Exactly. Had a MD dealer with a $20k ADM go into the whole "We have one of the only ones in the country.." bullshit. Yeah, sure buddy. That is why I have talked to like 20 dealers that have them available on the lot or in the next weeks just in the past 2 days (no good deals though...).
