There will definitely be a hybrid R, but this is the last one with a manual 2ltr turbo ICE and that is something very special.
Just hoping the don't sacrifice ride quality chasing ring records
I would image these power differences are ECU tunes which would be different for different markets due to quality & octane of fuel & environmental conditions
The FD2 also dated well for this reason and still looks fairly modern for a 15 year old car!
I don't think the FK8 will date well, not having a go at anyone but as soon as this new one comes out it will look old.
I'd never considered an FK8 but I'm all over this. We're all different though...
More and more unveils are going this way, look at the Lotus Emira for instance. Without the worldwide fanfare of things like the Geneva motor show, manufacturers have to try something new and different
Checked with a dealer principal in the UK, it's not on the internal system yet, no chassis codes, nothing.
If you put money on one or get on a list it's unofficial, you're entering into a private agreement with the dealership, who know nothing about the car or allocations.
It was originally initiated by Audi, in partnership with Shell a number of years ago. It then went hush-hush (likely Shell saw the threat to their business) but it's now back in a big way to save motor racing (a number of race series use it and F1 is moving to it). Economies of scale mean the...

In the...
I had an Accord Type R and a Civic FD2 Type R when they were new. I've obviously had several cars since then so I'll be coming back to the Honda fold if I get one of these.
This will be the daily family car
The new one will look better
Great post - I have an E46 M3 & hope to add this to the garage
I seriously wouldn't pass up a car if you're offered one, imagine how gutted you'd be if you didn't get another allocation!
Here's the truth: no one knows!
The UK market was never limited, they sold loads here. It's going to be limited now like Canada. Chances are it will be limited in every continent. Hopefully we'll get the allocation numbers soon.
Just to add, most dealerships are the last to know, and often use the internet themselves. A lot of the time customers know more than dealerships because we go digging. If dealers are 100% confirming numbers to ppl then their country must be further along the allocation and ordering process than...
