I was hoping they'd add parking sensors! And change to USB-C. Looks like probably not for either, though I guess we'll see once the cars are actually here. But if there's literally no difference from the 2023 model, it seems like the move is to try to get one of the last 2023s.
People love to hate on the EN because it's ugly (fair) and a Hyundai (fair), but I think most people who don't like it probably haven't driven one.
The driving dynamics are great if you like having fun in your car. The car holds up well on track in stock form and gives you a lot of information...
I like the DE5 in a lot of ways! Versus the Elantra N, the two biggest things I like about are the gearbox which feels way better, and the fact that it has a hatch. Versus the FL5, I like that it has heated seats. And vs. both of them — I like some of the niceties like parking sensors front and...
Appreciate all of the thoughts!
For me the car is a daily and only car, so it has to be able to do everything. No kids but I do need to transport video production gear — the RS3 is just enough space for me, but anything smaller won’t work. My ideal car since forever has a manual transmission...
As someone who owns an 8Y RS3 and is interested in both the GRC and FL5 (but more realistically DE5)... would love any thoughts you have comparing the three cars. Do you still have the RS3 and GRC?
Parking sensors would be nice. Same with auto folding mirrors. Basically adding some things available in other markets. Heated seats would make me buy one tomorrow even though I know that won’t happen.
Even though the ITS fixes some of the flaws with the FL5, I'd prefer the Honda if possible. It looks better (to me), it's a few inches shorter, and the seats are better than the ITS seats. I'd probably be happy with either but assuming CTR actual prices continue to drop, I might go that route...
I mean the first two items on that list are subjective flaws that most journalists and many owners see in the car: it's too stiff in +R and it doesn't sound good. Heated seats are a preference but in my world have nothing to do with a car's soul.
Thanks to the Integra Type S, 2/3 of my problems with the Type R can now be fixed pretty easily: the suspension stiffness and the exhaust. The only remaining bummer for me is the lack of heated seats. I'm wondering if anyone has tried to make the stock seats heated, or knows if this is possible...
My RS3 story is really lucky — I happened to check in with my local dealership the same morning someone backed out of their incoming allocation. I picked up the car a month later at MSRP.
I've only owned it for 3 weeks and 1,200 miles (including one road trip but no track time), so I don't feel...
Have you driven both on the track?
How does your GR Yaris measure up in this respect? In general I tend to agree with you. The only one of these cars I haven't driven is the GR Corolla (I live in the US) and I'm so curious how that car feels to drive.
The Elantra N is legitimately a good car — I've owned both the DCT and MT. I'd be curious how many people comparing it to the CTR (besides OP) have actually owned both.
