Regardless how the Renault R.S. Trophy-R was designed, spec'd out and priced it was still a stock front-wheel drive vehicle and still owns the lap record for front-wheel drive vehicles at the Ring.
That being said let's hope that we hear some upcoming good news regarding the new FL5 and fast...
@Crash, cool video of the 1st and 2nd gen CTR's and thanks for posting.
One question and it centers around the curb weight of the FL5 as the Honda USA website lists the curb weight at 3,118# but recently Honda Auto News listed the FL5 curb weight of 3,188#.
Obviously power to weight ratio for...
Maybe I am missing something with respect to your reply but the Cup 2 tires on my 2021 CTR were factory installed at the Swindon assembly plant and merely suggested that it would have been nice to have that same option as we did for the final model year for the two FK8 models.
Having been an...
You may be right but the group that I hang with who are interested in the new FL5 are all over 50.
A great deal of us older enthusiasts still appreciate 3-peddle vehicles along with other cool features such as outstanding Brembo brakes, quick ratio steering, terrific handling, very good...
Good catch and suggest that is a typo.
Believe the correct curb weight for the 2023 Touring Model is 3,188 as published by Honda Auto News October 27th, 2022.
Having said that I have been wrong many times before.
Good point but for all of us enthusiasts I hope that is indeed not the case.
I realize that the final drive ratio for the FL5 was reduced by 6% which normally would result in slower acceleration times but when combining a slightly shorter tire height on this new model along with increased...
Thanks!
Really looking forward to some detailed performance data provided by various American automotive journalists that will utilize our road courses after which time I will then be convinced one way or another as to just how good or mediocure the new FL5 performs?
I also love the FL5 with respect to the new body design, wider wheels & tires, lower stance, increased HP and torque, more boost, active exhaust at high RPM, lighter flywheel, bigger rad and wider front and rear track.
If I end up with a new FL5 it will of course come with that beautiful carbon...
I can think of many good reasons to purchase an FL5.
What exactly do you not like about the FL5 and how many miles do you have on your FK8 and how long have you owned it?
Can certainly appreciate your thoughts but after configuring my 2023 CTR the MSRP for my build came out at $50,110 therefore I expect to pay a great deal more than $50K OTD.
Good luck going forward!!
Don't like ADM's anymore than the next guy but just being realistic in today's marketplace when looking for a new FL5.
If you have some answers for all the rest of us enthusiasts maybe pass along some dealership names that are selling these new 2nd generation CTR's for MSRP so that we can reach...
I feel bad for people like you who are delusional about the present market place and has a difficult time with proper grammar and about specific facts centered around the new 2nd generation CTR.
Good luck with obtaining a new FL5 at MSRP let alone under MSRP and suggest that you keep dreaming!
Have done enough racing to fully understand all that but expect the new 2023 CTR to still have a shorter overall tire diameter than the final first generation 2021 model year.
Understood on the final drive ratio being reduced by 6.5% but with new FL5 running 19" wheels compared to 20" wheels on the FK8 there is no question that the Honda engineers took that issue into consideration.
I expect the wider 265/30/19 Michelin tires on the FL5 to have a smaller overall...
Really appreciate your well detailed comments and observations regarding your very early FL5 and easy to determine that you certainly are enjoying your very cool car.
Previously owned a Rallye Red 2018 for a year (~6,000 miles) but when transferred out West I sold it back to my selling Honda...
Based on making numerous calls recently to various Honda dealerships in my area I don't see MSRP being attained anytime soon but have been wrong many times before.
Bought a new 2018 RR example at MSRP but that deal was struck based on having purchased many new vehicles from that dealership...
