Here's whiteline's instructions: http://www.whiteline.com.au/docs/install_guides/Z6059.pdf
Honestly these instructions were insufficient, but they give you a nice idea. "Loosen the rotor" took me 2h in one corner because I had never done that before. Took me 30s in the other side tho...
It's...
What's your hot tire pressure on the fronts and rears? You can alleviate the excessive shoulder wear on the fronts by overinflating your rears a bit.
Yes, hardrace is a good choice. I personally use whiteline on my FK8. I would say they are a perfect upgrade to the stock suspension. Cons of a...
That's half the price of a non-LE FK8 part, that's awesome. Yes, most (if not all) ECUs in our cars are rewritable. In case Honda releases a TSB for this part, techs will be able to upgrade the firmware without replacing the hardware, but not tune it to different settings. At least for the FK8...
Yeah, that makes sense. I figured it was tested enough in real life. Since you removed your strut pins, it's also friction that is holding your strut in position. If any of these camber adjustments change on track, the resulting change in toe is definitely concerning. Wunderladen has recently...
At least on the FK8, those camber plates won't work with stock springs. It's better to get lower ball joints instead.
The whiteline lower ball joint makes it really easy to adjust your settings before/after a trackday, faster than changing pads. You don't need to remove any bolts, just unscrew...
The problem with street tires for track duty is the lack of consistency. As a beginner, you are learning the car, the track and piloting skills. It's awful that every lap your car feels different just because your tire temperatures changed from the previous lap. I highly recommend yoko neovas...
He's claiming only the 6th gear was shorter. Compare the shift lights and speed below (from Misha's ig post). Someone on YT also indirectly measured the engine rpm from the inboard audio and had the same conclusion.
The fk8 service manual says it's a feedforward control on the steering wheel angular velocity. Since it's a feedforward, it will command the brakes and help rotate the car no matter what mods you made to the vehicle dynamics. I suspect the steering feel of the car wouldn't feel as direct as it...
This is news to me: it says it only uses the front brakes!
I believe the agile handling assist improves lap times. Like trail braking makes you faster even though you are breaking, the ability to slightly change the braking force distribution with the steering wheel seems like a good idea when...
The pedal dance indeed puts VSA in maintenance mode. It disables the agile handling assist but does not disable the ABS. The agile handling assist is not really heavy on pad wear, at least not with higher temp pads - a problem 17-19 fk8 had with OEM pads.
Oil temps are tricky because it might be an indirect observation. The facelift FK8, which shows oil temperature readings, doesn't have a proper temp sensor. It's calculated. And most people tracking their cars have changed the oil weight, so we don't know how much we trust those numbers. Has...
Yup. Many claim they don't overheat, but it depends heavily on ambient temps and how hard you are pushing the car. It took me a few trackdays to start overheating. Now I can only complete one hot lap before the ECT gauge reaches 80%.
I believe most of you haven't read the old fk8 track threads...
I can get you the complete fk8 procedure from the service manual if you like. It's FL (ext then internal), FR (ext then internal), RR, RL, cycle e-brakes 5 times, redo rears.
They built only 500 Trophy R, but this is not the record setting car. That was the "Nurburgring pack" Trophy R ($80k), of which only 30 were ever built.
All that to beat the mass produced fk8, whose lap time at the time was dismissed because Honda "cheated" by using Cup2s (not a factory item)...
That was the plan, but the pandemic dragged on. They settled for Suzuka, where it beat the said Megane. But both these cars were not tuned for Suzuka or any other glass smooth race tracks, which requires higher rigidity and stiffer suspension. The FL5 is, that's why it's so much better in these...
