Very relatable. My first car was also a Miata - I learned how to drive on it, drove it to high school, and put a turbo on it in college. Forward, now with a wife and kid, and I'm getting groceries and doing the daycare shuttle in my Civic Si.
It really is important that your everyday car also...
I have a feeling you're going to get more questions about that sick fitment than the coilovers, lol.
So you might as well post the details now... What's the drop? alignment specs? wheel specs?
What he's saying is that heavy track use, not a tune, is what requires heavier oil.
Going to the track and having your foot to the floor for "20-40 minutes" is a whole different ball game from having a flash and going WOT for a few seconds on the occasional on-ramp.
Very interesting thread, thanks for posting! Please update us as you get some track days with this setup.
I never would have thought to swap smaller brakes on to a track car that was having brake overheating problems, but you explained your thought process clearly and it makes sense. I am...
I wonder how many gen 10 Si's they built each year.
I have a feeling they hardly built any of the MY2022 Si's due to the supply chain nonsense, and MY 2023 may not be much better. Hard to imagine axing the Si after so few were built.
They lasted about 2 laps before they stopped working, lol. Disappointing but understandable given the price point.
I bought a set of Carbotech XP10 for next time but haven’t had a chance to try them yet. They are well respected in the track community. Motul 600 fluid.
Hoping it holds up better...
Good write up! I’m also at one year and 8000 miles and I agree on all points. I’m still looking for excuses to drive this thing. And since it is still basically a Honda Civic I don’t have to feel bad about taking it out all the time.
I just added a Whiteline rear bar and it made an already...
Brake ducts might help but they are not going to be a replacement for BBK, or even high temp pads and fluid.
I would try track pads and fluid and make sure you really need/want to drop big bucks on the BBK.
I swapped to Carbotech 1521 for street and XP10 for track with Motul fluid after my...
I asked if anyone had tried them yet. If someone came in and said they had and they were terrible, I would want to know that.
Also, isn’t this a car forum? We’re supposed to be here to talk about cars, no?
Faster and better are two completely separate things though. The C63 is a perfect example of that. For years AMG meant the sexiest sounding V8s on Earth, but the new one is a hyper-complicated turbo four with electric motor assist. Sure it may be faster but I gurantee you people will miss the...
I appreciate your research and I can see where you're coming from. However, without knowing what the spring rate on the H&R or Eibach is, it's kind of a moot point.
Also, here's some food for thought on spring rates from H&R's own website. I'm not sure we can say that the OEM rear spring is...
My finger is hovering over the checkout button, but I think I'll probably wait until after the holidays. Anyone have these yet? I have not been impressed by most of the 11th gen cars lowered with 10th gen springs so far, they are too low in the rear and it just doesn't look good...
Yeah, I wouldn’t overthink it. It’s normal and it’s only really noticeable when it’s cold. I changed to Amsoil fluid and it helped a bit, so that’s an option if it really bothers you.
Very happy with my Continental DWS 06+, which I run as my winter tire. I’m normally a Michelin man but these were cheaper and in stock last winter. I’m sure PS4S are excellent as well.
