Okay, so I was able to pull the thing open. Strangely though, I can't plug the thing back into its socket! I'm forcing it, jimmying it, trying to press the tab, lots of different things. I went at it for ten minutes straight.
I think something is just overly... wrong here. Maybe it was plugged...
Well, clearly that's what I did to install the shifter the first time. It just didn't pop out this last time, so I thought "Maybe I'll break it if I keep trying," and stopped after four attempts. I will certainly try it again though, as I'm glad you don't have to disassemble everything else...
Oh, and ACUITY, several times I tried to pry out that center area that has the cigarette lighter with everything still in, and it wouldn't come out. Are you certain that everything doesn't have to come out for you to get to it? (like I know you obviously don't have to pull out the console, but I...
Thanks, but right now the knob height is on 3, the gate spacer is very high up (not right at the top but close), and the other thing is at 4 (forget what the other one is called). I don't have a problem with the stiffness, I was just saying that I was surprised how stiff it actually was...
Thanks for the quick reply! Yes, I followed the video closely. I just meant when it came to reassembly, since the video says "reinstall everything in reverse order" or something. Yet, the new shifter doesn't have clip ports for the wires to go into, so automatically it's not going to be reverse...
Thanks. I put everything back together. I spent a long time trying to tweak my settings, then tried to work with the shift boot collar but it's not cooperating with my Raceseng shift knob, so I have to try and figure that out now.
I have two big concerns right now, though:
(1) My cigarette...
Halfway home. Taken two hours so far. This has not been easy for me, and although I anticipate reassembly being easier, without a video showing the parts I fear some clips and wires won’t be so easy to figure out (especially since I also have the console illumination wires).
So I installed mine today.
First tried position B, thinking it would make the most logical sense since it appears at the same height as the brake pedal. The problem is it doesn't have the same spongy give in pressure feel, and if you intend on heel-toe downshifting, it doesn't make enough...
Just bought a bunch of tools so I can try and install my short shifter this weekend. However, I just realized that I might hit a snag:
I've seen the Acuity tutorial video, but I completely forgot that I have console illumination installed in the center area of my car (kind of like this)...
I don't want to be wrong, but I believe the bulb is not amber. I think that's what made me order from Amazon at the time instead.
I came back to the LED strip ones though because then Amazon's right side marker didn't fit the bulb or get into the slot correctly (I'm sure you can see some...
Okay, so I'm stupid and kind of want to do it that way now if I can. I thought that way meant that it was white by default and then would turn to amber when blinking, not that it would be amber always and then blink off-and-on when activating the turn signal.
Yes, if wired correctly. I do not know how to wire them that way, however.
One month in and I have not witnessed any condensation of any sort. My weather doesn't really dip below 45 degrees often though, but I did get a good bit of rain this past month.
So I went back outside to check up on them, and the left one was white again. I guess the clamp is not staying down very well. I got one of the zip ties and tightened it with that. Hopefully that holds. If not, I'll have to figure out how else I'm supposed to hold that thing down.
Here are a...
Okay man, so I got it to work.
I tried the right side of my car, things went much more smoothly trimming the plastic piece and slipping it on, and when turning on the lights they were white, so I just let out an unwarranted "FUCK YOU!!!" and squeezed the entire plastic super hard with my pliers...
I had to open the engine hood, slip my arm through an opening and grab the black coil, pulling it just enough that a small piece could rest right on top of that opening. I almost dropped pieces of the quick splice inside the engine at one point, and that would have been it.
See, I can't order...
I appreciate your help in the matter, really I do so very much.
Sadly, I clamped that sucker down hard and it still hasn't changed the color. Since taking the photos I also removed the black wire from there enough for the red cap to close all the way down on it.
Once again, I'm really just...
I did everything exactly as suggested.
I cut the quick splice rounded portions, took forever to fit it onto the gray wire in that little area, slipped the loose red wire in, and closed down the metal portion with pliers. I even tried to close the red top thing over it as best as I could though...
