Not sure if I followed up on my thoughts on the CTR for winter, but compared to WRX or GRC (all on snow tires) I felt a bit helpless in actual snow. It was perfectly fine functionally. I had no problems getting where I needed to go, there wasn't a time where I decided against going when I would...
Any metal flake in the oil should just be leftovers from manufacturing. That's pretty normal though it usually ends up in the filter and not so visible in the oil pan. It's a little odd that people are still seeing appreciable glitter on change 2+ ?
Like I said I changed out at 1000 miles for...
Not sure why that's giving me VW vibes. Not in a bad way, I'm sure it will look good.
The 11th gen Civic is such a good looking car I feel like all they can do is change it, not improve it. I'm not a big Honda fan or anything either, just my honest take. Honda was pretty high up there on the...
I wasn't going to do any PPF. Never have before and my cars were just fine. It was bothering me though. As "just fine" as my last 2 vehicles were after 70,000 and 80,000 miles respectively, I was not comfortable asking myself if I would be OK with that kind of damage vs. mileage today ? people...
If you're double clutch upshifting and it's grinding then the clutch is not disengaging when you press the pedal down. Take it to the dealer. It is hard to imagine any competent tech saying it's normal, and if they do you could at least ask them to carry out the adjustment procedure and confirm...
If it really crunches consistently there is a problem and you should at least try the dealer. There's no way changing the fluid will improve that unless there was something very wrong with the factory fill.
In meantime I'd be interested to see what effect double-clutching the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts...
I skimmed over your comment without seeing who posted it and figured it was my own comment I was reading until I came back to the "sold back to VW" part. I traded my JSW in for a Subaru in April 2014, a good year and a half before dieselgate broke. It still stung a little seeing that they would...
Oh haha, it's just a setting you can change. Change it to "comfort" setting in individual mode and I think it's completely off. Either that or it's quiet to the point of not being able to tell it from real engine noise.
Along the same lines you can do some fuse tricks to get the exhaust valve...
The fake noise in the CTR isn't too bad. I left it on the medium setting until I deleted the smaller resonator from the exhaust and no longer felt like I needed it to tell me what the engine was up to. If I tracked the car I would probably have to turn the fake noise up to help hear what was...
Also the motoring obsession tool says there are about 650 actually on the ground, which lines up somewhat with autotrader. But dang, that's still a lot of these sitting
Right on man. I was so content with the car I had from 2014-2021. 7-8 years without hardly thinking about cars. I prob said in my OP but I knew when I saw the first shots of the FL5 mule in 2020 that I was going to have to have it. Once the cars with the Type R camo started popping up...
Finally got around to making an appt for full front/hood xpel. Will be my first time doing PPF, looking forward to not worrying as much about bug guts.
More interestingly, my Tomica FL5 came this week and I immediately upgraded the wheels to more OEM-like Hot Wheels wheels like I did on my...
Better than starting a new thread.
Man, now that the weather has been good and my driving habits are much more consistent with the car.. I get some pretty bad fuel economy with this thing. 22-23 mpg.
And to the OP's original point, the fuel gauge is pretty dumb. It seems like the gas gauge...
Despite what everyone thinks about modern engineering and manufacturing, there are imperfections all throughout the engine - high spots on bearings, shafts, rings, walls - that will wear in in those first few miles. The break-in requirement addresses the very low probability of a worst-of-worst...
I just got done posting a new thread on this yesterday because google didn't see fit to show me this then (and if google can't find it you know forum search wont) ?‍♂️
My first stone in dust shield code brown was 20 years ago, one of the first days I had my first new car, Scion tC. Ran over...
Ah thanks, I didn't think to look at 10th gen forums. Also I searched again and found this :dunno: wtf I looked everywhere before posting a thread.
https://www.civicxi.com/forum/threads/help-received-had-rocks-between-the-rotor-and-brake-shield.51663/
I think I'll try and pry back the shield...
Also for context, I don't drive on any dirt or gravel roads. Between pot holes and winter detritus there will never be a shortage of crap to run over coming down my street, at work, going to Walmart etc.
Does anyone have any tips on how to prevent stones from getting stuck in the wheels and/or dust shields? Has anyone else even had to deal with this issue like me!?
Several times since I got the car in November I have had a stone clank its way into a wheel and get lodged between I assume the...
