Outside air temp was between 70-72 degrees on both trips. For reference, here is another post that I made prior to install of the plate and from last Summer where temps were 100+ degrees while stuck in stop and go traffic...
Another viewpoint to consider the stock FL5 being stuck in a traffic jam on a 100+ degree sunny day with even higher temps pelting off of the asphalt. Everything gets heat soaked fast with the lack of airflow and in my experience last Summer, the cooling system was struggling.
I ended up...
At least "Auto Score" provides the operator with visualizations on some of the data collected and locally analyzed. Game over when the same data is pushed to the cloud with more advanced analytics and overlay visualizations.
Benefit and a curse at the same time depending on one's perspective.
So "Journeys" are recorded in the infotainment system. I removed the TCU on 07 March and the infotainment system contained recordings from build date and through 28 February. These can be viewed by clicking "Honda LogR" and then "Auto Score." Here are a bunch of PICs from my car after...
Update...I decided to skip grinding a bit off of the baffle plate where it was making contact. Instead, I took the car to a parking lot with the wheel locked full left and then full right to simply break them in naturally. I still have no idea where the baffle plates were making contact but...
In daily driving today after installing the plate yesterday, here are my observations after the engine was warmed up and during a 30 mile commute driving on highways:
To Work: No traffic, IATs varied between 10-20 degrees cooler (averaged ~15 degrees cooler).
Back Home: Heavy stop and go (10...
Ordered the J's Racing Hyper Intercooler on 11 February and was given a lead time of 1-2 months for manufacturing before shipment. Intercooler has since shipped.
Plate is 2mm thick with connection points slightly offset as compared to the otherwise flat 0.5mm stock undertray. No ground clearance is lost. Here is a PIC with the camera on the ground where the resonator on the stock exhaust pokes out in the PIC and is circled.
Here is another PIC with...
Evidently a hole for the stock flex pipe was not needed. After installing the plate, there is about 1/2" clearance between the top of the plate and bottom of the flex pipe itself.
Well, scratch my last post. When the car is lowered back onto the ground, the bottom of the plates touch the top of the end link bolt on each side. The contact point is not under tension. After installing the baffle plates and driving at a low speed, the clicking issue is only experienced...
FYSA...There is one minor clearance issue that needs to be corrected. After installation of the baffle plate, there is about 1/8" clearance between the plate and bolt head circled in this PIC:
No rubbing between the bolt head and plate for the most part. There is however slight rubbing that...
One of the nice things about this forum is the community, passion, and collective information shared. I am impressed with the stock FL5 but had a concern last Summer seeing various temps rise where it seemed like the FL5 could really use help to shed heat more effectively. I prefer to do...
So when you order the Cusco brake cooling baffle plates, you only receive the replacement plates. The stock #25 bolt and Frankenstein washer (not depicted in the previous parts diagram) are reused.
The stock "air intake plate" is a semi-rigid plastic. Left side height measures 5" and right...
Likely standard informative/marketing emails. When you remove the TCU, your car is no longer constantly beaconing. Has anyone that removed their TCU noticed any ill side effects? I certainly have not. Everything that I use still functions the same.
Yea...5+ pound heatsink removed and at least the intake side is now complete. Inlet was installed yesterday and as expected, there was no discernable difference. Intake was installed today and it sounds great with the windows down.
The wraps were various leftover rolls of spare tape that I was simply having fun with at the time. Here is the turbo inlet installed without all of the tape:
Regarding the intake, I already bought one (different brand) and installed it today.
