Really hard to say what happened but if it was bad enough it got on the hood there definitely was some in the engine bay. This could have been bad and would have caught fire I imagine if you were driving and the engine was hot. Thats really odd this happened, glad that you are safe
Sorry to spam this post a bit but I actually The Motor Oil Geek (the guy from the last video I posted) just released a video thats actually kind of relevant here and I think its good information.
I didn't know this but apparently the most amount of of wear and contamination occurs during the...
This is a good video that describes about how oil life indicators work. Unsure about ours specifically but its probably similar, this should answer your questions.
As far as the oil change the factory fill has a special blend thats supposed to accommodate the engine break in process. You can...
Exactly. If there was truly a best oil for this car. The AI would be able to pick it up instead of just giving the typical AI slop, which just gives the round around and non-answers.
10 years is enough to provide data for a sort of meta-analysis. The searches are sourcing the internet and not...
Nothing about this response is specific to Toyota engines, all variable displacement pumps use the ECM to adjust the displacement, and work the same way as described.
The ECMs for our cars are not identical and have different power ratings especially when you are looking at the different...
Where are you seeing the information that says this? Theres nothing I've seen that shows this. The 1.5L L15 that Honda uses had really bad issues with fuel dilution in earlier models when it first came out. Never seen that being a problem on the FK8s, it has been 10 years, any problems would be...
It really doesn't matter tbh. 0W20 or 5W30. You dont really live in an extreme climate that's very hot or cold.
What matters more is the oil brand you use and the frequency of your oil change intervals
They swear by the JDM Subaru filter (its black) not the USDM filter. There is a difference from when I looked into it. They are made in different factories and the JDM one is better significantly than the US one.
Can anyone that knows more about suspension go into detail about what the pros and cons of coilovers vs using the stock setup with the DSC controller?
Like what would the limitations of the stock setup be if you can adjust the damper settings?
Yeah its a big reason why I like the FL5 and really love the philosophy of a hot hatchback. Never had anything as expensive as the 911 but after I got my CTR I drove my Mustang less and less because it attracted alot of attention and wasn't as low key.
The thing I really love about these cars...
Hmm interesting because I've heard from alot of people that FRAM is garbage now. Unfamiliar with Honda but on the Subaru side I basically asked the same question for my BRZ and alot of people were saying FRAM used to be good
