  1. 🤩 FL5 Type R Owner Review First Impressions! (after 270ish miles and counting)

Thanks for pointing me back to this channel. I'd dismissed it a while back since some of his work a few years ago was kinda cringe inducing. But credit where credit is due. I hate my own voice on camera so props for him finding a better presenting style and putting decent content together. All...
  2. FK8 vs FL5 track times?

Couldn't care less about 'Ring times to be honest. Will never get a clean lap of the full course as a normal enthusiast anyway. More interested in overall cooling performance and consistency in shorter circuits.
  3. 🤩 FL5 Type R Owner Review First Impressions! (after 270ish miles and counting)

I'd say if you've put 80K plus miles and absolutely threw it through its paces on track one could see the advantage of a fresh start. Especially if cooling out of the box is addressed. But agreed, for most it will be a slightly lateral move. Especially with the current market. Side note. Low...
  4. 🤩 FL5 Type R Owner Review First Impressions! (after 270ish miles and counting)

Looks great OP. Front 3/4 continues to be the strongest angle for Type Rs in general. Hope you get a chance to take it on track sometime! Personally not upgrading this time around but I'm happy they appear to have addressed some of the feedback from FK8 generation buyers, mainly cooling issues...
  5. Backup plans - what's yours?

Unfortunately one can't just hand them a check for the same amount and call it a sale. Getting a GT-anything in Porscheland is an ordeal for any new orders (2X in the current market). Even enthusiasts with the cash but not the same connections end up going for a CPO later on.
  6. Backup plans - what's yours?

I did a PCE day in a PDK GTS (pre 4.0) and yeah I'd have to agree. Brutally efficient, almost too good if that makes sense...but ultimately a lot of scratch for a third/fourth car that was fast approaching 911 prices if you want it optioned to look/feel interesting...bare bones spec is not even...
  7. Backup plans - what's yours?

I wanted to hate it after the first shots leaked. But...I really like this. Boxed flares and a touring-car like presence. Interior is great and I'm a huge fan of the B58 and S58. 3 cons - headlight/taillight combo throws off the whole look, the weight increase is a concern, 1st year owners will...
  8. Backup plans - what's yours?

fK8 sO uNreLiaBle iDgAF Not like we needed confirmation that you just parrot what you read but aren't in the mix, but there it is...
  9. Backup plans - what's yours?

Alright chief, let's take a time out. At this point I'll assume you're only speaking from anecdotes. You're missing a lot of context. 1-2 HOT laps at high ambient will likely get your temps up where you may have to back off for a lap or two and before you can try getting back on it at...
  10. FL5 Type R's Japan Price leaked @ 4,997,300 Yen (5.26% higher than FK8)

Unfortunately this is not too different from how allocations work at US dealerships. In that just because you put down a deposit and are promised to be next in line, it does not always guarantee the delivery. The difference being that instead of a lottery system the dealerships that sell the...
  11. Video: Engine start and exhaust sounds on FL5 Civic Type R (2023+)

Alfa 4C, AMG A45, and any of the current 2.0 Hyundai N Vehicles are good honorable mentions, sadly I don't think the K20C1 (updated version or even aftermarket) will ever be anywhere as good. But agreed, any 4pot outside of motorsports is typically going to land on the meh side. Porsche...
  12. ? 2023 Civic Type R making public debut January 14 @ Tokyo Auto Salon 2022

That wouldn't be much of a reveal, hope that's not the case. Also based on when the 'prototype' dropped for the 10th Gen CTR back in 2016, it was essentially a production spec exterior aside from a couple details...
  13. What are the chances of honda eventually using gearbox Auto Transmissions in next gen civics?

I don't follow. Once again we're still just going over the theory of the engineering behind CVTs. Jason basically illustrates how they're not currently designed for higher output engines. Nowhere in the video are we going over a transmission that can ACTUALLY do what he's describing, only what...
  14. What are the chances of honda eventually using gearbox Auto Transmissions in next gen civics?

I get that, in theory it should be quicker. But the fact that no manufacturer has come up with a feasible performance application for the consumer market probably means it will cost more than what they hoped to save by pursuing this technology. Or it simply has no place in a part of the market...
  15. What are the chances of honda eventually using gearbox Auto Transmissions in next gen civics?

That's a rather cherry picked example without context, don't you think? The transmission in that F1 car has little in common with what we see in roadcars. That's like saying because a car has paddle shifting, its basically the same as a sequential transmission in a purpose built touring or rally...
