Still got my blackwing, but wife wanted one. We traded in the Miata. We got the white. They -- for unknown reasons -- let us test drive it while picking up a Motocompacto (it had 3 miles on it when she got in). My wife fell in love, so there's that.
MSRP + forced accessory + super duper extra...
Most of the cost of an Itasha wrap is the art and design. For very simple ones with off-the-shelf art it can be cheaper, but if you're doing complex custom art and a full wrap full design it can really become very expensive (understandably).
I don't recall the exact amount. The design was free since my wife did it. The print and application at 5amvinyl was ~1300, but part of the price was using a clear material to let the pearl white show through. Opaque materials cost less and I think it was priced under $1k for that.
For PPF I'd recommend Glass Tiger in Liliburn. It's just OTP, but they do a great job. I haven't gotten my wraps done through them, though, as they were too backed up on that front. Instead I got mine done at 5amvinyl (NE OTP) and I'd definitely recommend them for wraps; they did the Chainsaw...
Ended up passing on the one coming to Stonecrest. We've been helping out my wife's parents post-hurricane (fun fact: get flood insurance!) and couldn't swing the cost. Looks like the waitlist was deep for it though.
Here's the pic. Badge was 430's, I believe 437.
Oddly, parking far far from other cars often attracts people to park next to you. The real key is trying to stay far enough away that it's unlikely people will park near you, but close enough that it doesn't draw the eye.
I'm going to assume most people are wanting a 4d if they are comparing a Type R and a Blackwing. But if not, then there's some very awesome 2d options outside both of those in both their price ranges.
It's a tough call if you're getting both at MSRP. They are both great cars but the price difference between the two (at MSRP) is quite substantial. I think if you just want a fun to drive great car, just stick with an MSRP Type R, save yourself the ~20k. However, if you're seeing mark-ups on the...
This ended up being it. So there was a '22 Blackwing, I went and saw it. It was fantastic but just wasn't the Blackwing I wanted. Dealer offered 67k OTD but I declined. I instead asked to get setup for a factory one exactly with the specs I wanted (e.g. manual). He said it'll probably be a year...
100% and the only reason I'd personally even consider a Blackwing or CT4-V is that the FL5 I'm getting is 61k OTD. Looks like I found one Blackwing for 70k OTD nearby, hope to see it tomorrow. That's only a 9k upcharge for a much different tier of 4d vehicle. If they wanna come down when I...
Luckily I still own a manual MX-5 and the Honda Acty is manual for whatever that matters lol, so I can get my manual fix if I want. Especially when hitting Blood Mountain or Tail of the Dragon.
I drove one a bit ago and also a CT5-V. Both drove amazing. Even the weaker CT4-V (vs. the Blackwing) was smooth and the interior was fantastic. It's engine sound falls a bit flat, but I suspect that's by design. The MASSIVE downside for me was that it was not manual. But I'll give it another...
Insurance and taxes won't be too bad for me. About the same as a CTR tbh. Luckily, unlike VA (I lived there), you only pay the personal property tax at purchase in GA, instead of yearly. And since the OTD price would only be ~10k (maybe less) more than the CTR, the tax is about the same. But as...
Mine's going to be ~60k OTD. Blackwings are obviously a good bit more than that, but a CT4-V base is ~65k OTD with some packages, so it's comparable for me.
If only I liked the look of BMWs like at all. Something about them I find hideous. But I'm going to a diff area for more test drives this weekend. A diff dealership has some really well priced CT4-Vs and next door some RS3s are actually in stock. While both will be a bit more OTD than the CTR...
Yea, dealers can only keep interest so long. If mine's not here by the end of the month I'll probably ask for my deposit back and just buy something else unless they lower the ADM.
My dealer said it's on a train and when it arrives in Alabama it'll be on a truck here. Whether it's actually on the train or not is another thing entirely, but that's the info they got I guess.
