With performance cars, changing the trans fluid is something you kind of do based on feel, mileage, and driving habits (track days etc). If you feel like it needs to be changed, then just do it. It wonāt hurt anything and it can definitely make your shifts better/smoother. Iām a HUGE proponent...
Yes, I get that Iām not exactly comparing apples to apples. Thatās why I explained that the NSX was his dream car and that he will never sell it. That kind of changes the game a bit. I have no idea if the FL5 is a dream car for the OP or anyone else here. It could be. Note my buddy got his NSX...
Iām as big of a skeptic as anyone here, but it seems like you were expecting a fancy grounding system to fix a misdiagnosed problem?
I gotta ask : I assume the car was, at one point, idling fine without the hyper grounding system. Soā¦why would you expect a rough idle to be fixed by it? I donāt...
I feel this and if I were to get another new car anytime soon, Iād definitely be less willing to āpay-to-play.ā I paid a reasonable markup (Feb 2023 when I got mine) because I really wanted the car AND the last time I bought a car that was just for me (not a vehicle for my wife/family) was 2009...
A friend of mine bought his 2004 NSX in FL and drove it home to CA. It was his dream car and the drive home was all part of the experience. To each their own, but putting ārestrictionsā on a deal could also cause you to miss out on a fun experience with the car and memories. But if you think...
šÆ This exactly!
Someone else posted a link to a complete upgraded HKS grounding system. I can certainly understand why something like that can improve electrical system functionality/consistency. But just changing 1 ground cable to a better one is not going to do much except look nicer under the...
Sorry if I wasnāt clear. Iām definitely not trying to dissuade. Iām just saying it can be VERY hit or miss. All dealerships will have different āpoliciesā as well as circumstances about selling cars non-locally. Thatās why it boils down to just doing your homework. Calling a couple of...
Yeah some dealerships donāt want to sell to non-locals because they lose all potential to continue to make money from servicing the car. This might be more important to smaller dealerships than the big ones, but you never know. Some of the small town dealerships may be sitting on a car because...
@Zone47 It is a little frustrating especially as it is so unexpected. I went straight from an 8th gen Si (owned for 13+ years) to the FL5. The old Si had some rattles here and there, sure. But these FL5ās have more rattles in multiple places than they should (brand new). I agree with you on...
Thicker wires cost more. You only need a certain gauge of wire that is safe/effective for the given job. Anything beyond that is extra and unnecessary (from the factory). Aftermarket stuff can benefit from thicker/better wires as @pigfacedalarm pointed out.
Itās called Expectation Bias.
You should perform a blind test. Have a friend swap the cable in and out randomly and see if you can still perceive the difference with any consistency. Even if you donāt perceive any difference with any consistency in your test, it appears to at least be a...
Impressions and proof are 2 different things. Iām not saying your impressions are invalid, but in a blind test I guarantee there would be no conclusive evidence of a difference in performance.
Changing just the ground wire, even to a thicker gauge, should not result in anythingā¦unless the original wire is of insufficient gauge. The new wire looks nicer, and not having the conductors exposed to air/moisture is a good thing. I can understand buying it on just those merits.
@Tickle I donāt think additives are ābad.ā Honda just doesnāt condone the practice of upselling stuff like that as they donāt believe it is necessary.
Iām certain there are great additives out there. Some are very clear cut about what they do and how they work when used in specific scenarios...
At least itās just a fuel pump. Our 2020 MDX is on a recall list for (potentially) an entire engine, due to crank shaft failures.š¤£š¤£š¤£ Thankfully our MDX has been entirely trouble free, but I am awaiting the 2nd letter in the mail that says parts are now available and to take our vehicle in for an...
Wellā¦if the sound is significantly reduced so much to the point you canāt hear it, this is basically the same as āoffā right? Thatās the thing no one has yet verified, but I entirely understand your logic. Itās a valid point! Boy, it sure would be nice if Honda would, you know, simply explain...
@Cornercarver My comment about the FK8 was very tongue in cheek, hence the ājkjkā¦.Funny business aside.ā The FK8 has actually grown on me a bit over the years and Iāve said multiple times (in other threads) that I like both cars for varying reasons and theyāre both GREAT. Butā¦OK, I guess even...
Our ownerās manuals leave a lot to be desired. They donāt even list the break-in procedure, while EU manuals do. I wouldnāt trust whatās shown here for use with the FL5, but thatās just me. Itās in a section called āHandling the Unexpectedā and is citing the use of specific tools (including the...
