    Yeah, the scanner (or rotating the spindle manually if no scanner) retracts the parking brake, but has no effect on the hydraulic brake line, hence however far in the caliper piston is based on pad wear, it will remain that way until physically compressed

    Did you push the piston back? You still have to do that after retracting the EPB. It’s ok to push straight back, no need to rotate while compressing I really like how thorough this video is: Civic Type R Rear Brake Change Tutorial Video Link
