Remove the entire harness that runs down to the turbo on the passenger side of the valve cover there, Makes life a lot easier. Once you do it; you'd realize hey its not that bad. The FL5 has tons of room to move around to undo wires compare to the FK8.
Yes this is the clear I used, its a tad expensive but it last the longest and holds great. You really have to give it time to dry before installing. About 24hours before handling I would recommend, if it still feels soft, leave it for a few days. You can even put it in the oven and pre-heat it...
More goodies, thinking about polishing the passenger motor mount, seems like a lot of work but maybe once it’s warmer out I’d remove and give it a try.
Sorry it's been a while since I've been on here; Its winter in Wisconsin so the car has been put away and I've just been collecting more goodies for spring.
Scuff the plastic with a fine scuff pad for maximum adhesive, then buy a can of paint prep spray, clean the surface of the valve cover...
Installed the zl1 addon lift point blocks, I can admit they work wonderfully; now no more having to feel around to find the jack point. You mount these close to the original jack pad. They stated you should try to mount them farther away so you can use it as a jack point and use the OEM points...
The Apexi is a beautiful blend between comfort and that nice rumble. When you open it up; it gets really loud but slow cruising its nice and quiet. Definitely much louder than stock but not overly aggressive. I have a TSP catted downpipe so it contributes to keeping the exhaust quieter. I know...
Exhaust really makes it fun, you’d want to drive it more. I've been contemplating tint also; may go with 50 percent all around as I'm not a big fan of dark tints. My night vision isn't as great as it use to be lol.
On a side note! -
ZL1addons just released a nice set of Pinch weld lift pads...
Some updated photos; it’s a hard choice to go with some aftermarket wheels when the OEM ones look so good.
Really been considering the Mugen side skirts and rear splats but hate how fat the Mugen skirts look. So holding off.
I keep saying I’d do turbo and fuel, but I can’t seem to get there...
Got one side in front done; will do the other tomorrow. Had to run out and get a torque wrench capable of 10.5ft lbs or 125in lbs. Just a note for future folks who wants to do the rotor swap.
I weigh the rotors from OEM vs Bolt on Paragon and I’m seeing a 1 lbs difference with the Paragon being...
Went with some Paragon rear rotors and P2 pads;
I debated on a set of the larger 350mm rotors but after much consideration; I vouch to reduce as much rotational mass as possible thus went with these.
I also ordered the front ones too but didn’t get to installing them yet.
installed the brake shims today; got a rock stuck in the dust shield so decided to throw these on. These pads are quite dusty I suppose I’d replace them once I get aftermarket wheels.
After reading the Off the shelf tune thread on here I came to the conclusion to go with the TSP Stage 1 tune; it really woke the car up. It’ll keep my need for more power down a little longer while I plan fuel and turbo upgrades in the future. I intend to grow old with this car so lots to do. Lol
I did the clutch delay valve delete; now it’s shifting like how I want it to; full complete control of the clutch. I can’t stand these driving aids so out it went. No more gear lock outs/grinds due to slow disengagements when shifting quickly; people say it doesn’t affect disengagement but only...
Delete the clutch delay valve; I did it and it’s night and day; the way the car should’ve came. I got some love and some hate for it; I posted my results on Facebook via FL5 enthusiasts group page.
No more granny shifting in fear of the grind; smooth as butter now with quick shifts.
Put the acuity shifter bushings in; I drop a washer down the openings into the carpet. What should’ve been a 30min job turned into 1 1/2 hour as I put tape on the end of an extension to attempt to stick onto the washer and pull it out. After many attempts I got it out lol. Install is done...
love them; not too entirely low like the swift or other springs; sits just right; soften up the ride just enough but not too far from OEM feel. I wouldn’t have it another way.
